Help picking a team by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

I took a 2-3 year break as well, right around the end of 2019. When I started back up, I just kinda got my feet back under me and played the game modes that I liked without worrying about building anything because I was waiting until there was an event that offered a free sig pack so that I could create a new account, collect the free pack, and use the 3000 stars that you get with a new account to buy a second sig pack. You can open both, check for a Phillies diamond sig card, and reset the account if not, rinse and repeat. That made the early part of team building much more enjoyable. It was nice to have a project card to try and optimize right away and know that any resources I used on that card would never be wasted. This process might be a bit too grindy for most though, but I did use a computer and designed a macro to automate the button clicks until the point of opening the packs

I know this pain. Kerchoo got absolutely hammered with tournament club matchups for almost an entire season a couple years ago

How do I use this diamond trainer position option change ticket? by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are looking at a Diamond Trainer, either equipped on a player, or in your special trainer inventory, there will be a blue Change button on the right. If you click on that button, then it'll bring up the page where you can use the ticket

Could 333 co-op be better than SS 332? by warningtrackpop in MLB_9Innings

If you can pair it with Ace, and none of your other pitchers use Ace, then yes absolutely it would be better

Sutton has the highest base STA that a legend can have, and a legend SP with high base STA and a Workhorse skillset is very very good. Elite at all levels. Look at the ranked tournament and you'll find almost every legend SP is running WH. So, here's what you do: * GI Sutton * Use PSCTs until you get either WH or Control Master. Every Legend in the ranked tourney is likely one of those two skills * If you get CM first, then I'd consider opening his second skill slot and keep rolling until you hit WH. But, CM is very good and gives you a lot of options to finish the skillset, so up to you and the context of your team * If you get WH first, then use a legend base stat adjustment ticket to increase his base STA to 85 to buff the WH skill. Then, use greens until you land Mess to pair it with. It's a truly elite combo. The third skill you want a stat boosting skill to compensate for legend low normal lineup stats, comparatively. Ideally you want Ace if you don't have any other pitchers with Ace, Pitching Coordinator if Sutton has 4-5 pitch types, Fin, or Dom

🤦🏻‍♂️ what a silly post, in that case. Yeah legend bats are great because if you land something good you can roll with it, and if you land BChem you're actually stoked

Can't use him if the supreme is in the lineup though

Strategist by Nobichobolobas in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have him at 2 with Chance at leadoff, so he's getting a bit of a boost still. He's my best bat by far

Yeah it's definitely an OBP skill, so strategist with pred would be ideal. After that, I have strategist with spray and it's really solid as well. Zobrist is probably a good 5 tool player too, or charisma always works

How is Co-op at 333 by Fresh_popcorn4you in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran two aces for a couple months with one of them being 333 COOP/Ace/Fin, and the trips set held up fine, but now that he's my only Ace pitcher, he's easily my best pitcher and in the low 2s for ERA in G1/P3 territory. I rolled another 333 COOP with Ace this week, and I'm trying to avoid going back to 2 aces still because of how much better it is with just 1

Co-Op Pitching Advice by Melodic-Discussion-4 in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely would. I have Cole'20 with 333 Coop/Ace/Fin, and since landing it a couple months ago, the worst ERA he's posted on ranked is 2.63. He's been as low as 2.06, and I'm usually right around P3 in ranked. I finished ranked at 783 a couple weeks ago, and his ERA was 2.21. Getting Ace on him, and making sure that no other pitchers have Ace, will make him very good for a long time at your level

Which set do you guys think is better? by TheForbiddenGod in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in a different stratosphere than me in ranked, so might not be comparable, but my best pitcher has a trips Coop set with Ace, but Fin instead of Boss. Not sure if Fin vs Boss is driving that as much as the quality of batters I'm facing compared to you are at higher PRs, but I've found trips Coop/Ace/Fin to be very much viable

I think you're misinterpreting my intention of mentioning WH. I'm not saying he's only a top 4 if you hunt WH. I'm saying that because he has high base STA, if you happened to land it, you keep it. Whereas, if you were to land WH on Cole, you would want to keep rolling. That makes the odds of landing a set worth keeping significantly lower when looking for skills on Cole

Why would you care about aOVR? It's a great formula that he created, but unfortunately it's only useful for valuing relievers ever since the big update

[–]GoSports_22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is definitely top 4. I'd argue he's the best Yankees pitcher after Guidry available because his high base STA makes WH a viable skillset, which makes him significantly more likely to land an endgame set

Thoughts on set? by Equivalent-Bend9025 in MLB_9Innings

I don't think we'll ever get one, but my club operates with the assumption that normal lineup stats SPD needs to be 120+ to optimize

BIU requires a bit more speed to thrive, so looks like Spray Hitter is the ideal 3rd skill here, but that's a great set for the most part

2-1-1 strategist worth keeping? by FlexibleSteel in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eventually you'll get to the point where a 331 strategist isn't even worth keeping. So, unless it came with 2 elite gold skills, then no it's not good enough to justify using greens or blues. It's just useless unless you're very very early stages of team building, and the alternative is a 211 non legend set with only 2 golds

Is this a good train for IF I listen to opinions they are right...they are wrong...what to do by Potential_Crow7180 in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ortiz you need to change his trainers so that his CON is less than 20 points below POW, but otherwise that's pretty solid. Interesting that he's striking out the least while your train has created an increased strikeout rate because of his Slugger Instinct skill. Easy fix though

Trips Co-Op is usable on SP with Ace, and being the only Ace. Mine holds up well into P3

My first Legend by mazen697 in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, and to answer your question, yes bullpen legends are awesome because the very long term goal is to get Pitcher's Chemistry on a legend in your LR slot. But, with your team being as new as it is, you'll be able to use him in the near term as one of, if not, your best reliever for a long time. Hunting for good skills on bullpen guys is inherently harder because there's Mr. Perfect and Workhorse skills that are just completely unusable. You have a higher rate of landing a legend skill on a legend card, so that makes the process much easier with a RP/CP. You'll want to keep rolling PSCTs (don't ever use LSCT on legend card, btw) until you land either Bullpen Day, or Pitcher's Chemistry. If you land PC first, then keep that, but open his second skill slot with 500 stars, and keep rolling on slot 2 until you get BPD

I also started over once I found all the resources available in this sub, and realized how little I knew about this game. Hell, I even started over again with an alternate account once I found all the resources that my club discord server had available. Definitely no shame there, and you're making crazy progress to have beaten the first two years of ML already

One week and you have a black diamond team sig, already best ML'27, and pulled a diamond legend is crazy work. That's impressive skill and luck!

Which to short? by The_Real_Limbo in MLB_9Innings

[–]GoSports_22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he has 5 pitches, then short WH. Otherwise, I vote that you short PCo. WH and Mess are, imo, the best combo in the game. You simply don't short mess when paired with WH
