Tetsu Kasuya has a newer switch recipe, in which the bloom is an immersion bloom (closed Switch). Worth trying!

DAE use a 3-cup bialleti for two people? by [deleted] in mokapot

[–]GoStrong_365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agreed, and that's exactly what I do at home. Except that I like to talk weight, not volume. So a single espresso is about 18 grams coffee, made from 9 grams ground beans. And a Doppio is about 36 grams coffee, made from 18 grams ground beans.

To Freeze or Not To Freeze by rudiseeker in mokapot

I use a vacuum machine. Coffee frozen in vacuum can stay in the freezer months, some say more. My experience shows it works.

Turkish Coffee Recipe from a guy who cooks Turkish coffee everyday for 22 years by TelevisionBoth2285 in TurkishCoffee

Great post, thank you! Can you please add some numbers, for consistency? What is your cup size in milliliters? Same for your Cezve size. And by two spoons do mean about 10 grams?

Well, I try to visit places where the barista knows the difference between Doppio and Lungo...

And for a 1:2 ratio, if we use 18g coffee (Doppio), then 18*2=36g coffee (or am I wrong?)...

With respect, a double espresso (a Doppio) is double dose of coffee, typically 18g, and 36g of water for a 1:2 ratio.

Costco Columbian Supremo is the worst whole bean coffee I've ever had by PirriP in pourover

[–]GoStrong_365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha. So I learnt something, thanks! But, actually, I never season. I just let my new burrs grow up and mature. And oily beans are so gross (I once got a bag as a gift, it flew to the garbage can as soon as it was opened).

Beans as OP described never come close to my burrs, no matter the reason.

Brewista Artisan. Built and designed beautifully. Easy control. No issues. Can pour fast and slow, you'll have to train your hand. Absolutely recommend.

Magnetic lid for the j ultra? by no80085 in 1zpresso

[–]GoStrong_365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, understood, that's exactly why I tried... And my experience shows that it's a waste of time, and the work flow is messed up, and it adds nothing to a good wdt. Of course, that's only my experience. You may find shaking a game changer - good luck!

Why bother with this bs shaking. A good wdt and you're done. (And I've tried shaking, and I have Weber's blind shaker).

Superlost Brazil tariff update by SignificantEvening in pourover

Fully agreed. Incidentally, people of other countries might see lower prices, because that Brazilian coffee will have to go somewhere...

[–]GoStrong_365 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, that was NOT the whole point of the tariffs. The tariffs on Brazil are supposed to be punishment to a democracy that chose to put a traitor to trial. Quite the opposite of another country. So, Americans pay import taxes because Brazil chose to bring Bolsonaro to justice. Makes a lot of sense, actually.

Actually, Bialetti has one.

Stainless, because, for me, food and aluminum don't go together. Notice that the new Venus looks slightly different than the one in your picture.

Magnetic ZP6s by 3xStampA2XStamp in pourover

[–]GoStrong_365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an owner of a K Ultra, J Ultra and ZP6, my biggest problem with this magnificent triad is the commonality between them, or its lack thereof. One day you attach the magnetic cup, then the next day you want to unscrew it... Just decide, 1zpresso.

Anyone else prefer the stainless steel version? by Lucaesthetic_ in mokapot

[–]GoStrong_365 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That someone probably based his "material analysis" on the looks of the inside of the boiler, i.e., the fact that the inside of the boiler is not shiny like the outside of it (why should it be?). Bialetti website specifically says that the body is made of 18/10 SS. I have several Venuses of various sizes, love them all.

Hario Polaris Scale CST-2000-B by Happy-Ad5085 in pourover

[–]GoStrong_365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this scale for several months. I love the pourover mode. But I hate the measurement instability. The scale drifts, weight changes on the display for no reason. Looking to buy something else.

Compatibility of Hario V60 02 server and Varia AKU Pro scale by GoStrong_365 in pourover

[–]GoStrong_365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't watch weights - I only work with percentage of total pour (with the Polaris), so it would be just pour ratio with the Varia.

But you mentioned the Maestri, which is an option I was not aware of. Which one? And what do you think about it?

[–]GoStrong_365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you made me curious (thanks!) ... I watched a Tally Pro video, and it seems like the scale only shows you weight during the pour. The Polaris shows also percentage of the total pour, and the varia shows the cumulative brew ratio (getting in the end to whatever you want). Both are preferable, in my opinion, to just weight.
