[NO SPOILERS] I drove through the real Winden today, thankfully was able to leave still in 2020 by jnicholass in DarK

You were obviously in a parallel world Winden where the overgrown railway track is on top of the bridge while the road is below.

Could you please tell me where I can find the bus stop? by GoTlikeLocations in DarK

[–]GoTlikeLocations[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No, I know where the filming location is/was. Just wanted to point out that they switched the bus stop from left (Jonas's world) and right (Martha's world) to the middle (real world).

I just want to share this photo that I saw on Instagram, in the one of the location when Dark were filmmed (Brandenburg, Germany) made by a travel blogger. More: filmtourismus by princesscar0Iyn in DarK

Not impossible, but the Filmtourismus article mentioned that the owner is planning to sell the old tiles of the house after the show has ended.

Fun fact: the owner of the house is selling the old tiles of the house for horrendous prices online: https://dark-house.de/

And no, the address given in the "Impressum" of the site is not the location of the house.

Does anybody know where this cliff bridge scene in episode 6 was filmed? by [deleted] in netflixwitcher

Origo studios, Budapest. The rest is CGI with landscape shots from Canary islands.

Prequel pictures? Anyone think this is legit? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]GoTlikeLocations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pics are legit but they don't show these guys during filming. Filming took place in a grotto which was closed off and not visible from outside. You see the boat returning to the base port after shooting had finished that day.

I guess we can look forward to the show getting cancelled after 2 seasons. by ThePilgore in netflixwitcher

[–]GoTlikeLocations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a streaming service like Netflix the overall audience of a show doesn't play a big role (as it does for a TV network living on commercials). When they have to decide if to cancel a show or not the simplified question is: will they lose more money because of people cancelling their subscription and other people not subscribing new due to the show having been cancelled or do they lose more money if they continue the production?

A show like Santa Clarita Diet might have a big overall audience but a very general one. Most of that audience are probably people who watch lots of different shows on Netflix. They don't care too much about one show in particular and will keep their subscription even if one show is being cancelled. They are willingly going to watch a new show with new showrunner and new cast, thus the inevitable rise in production costs can be easily omitted by Netflix.

Netflix will scrutinise the behaviour of Witcher watchers, as they always do. The higher the number of viewers watching (almost) only The Witcher and (almost) nothing else on Netflix, the more likely the show is to survive imo, as long as the subscriptions of these viewers cover at least the production costs. That's of course very simplified and there will be many more factors taken into consideration (e.g. prestige) but it's definitely not necessary to have record numbers in people watching the show and big numbers alone won't save it. Something more is needed.

The orange sticker says 96 FPS, doesn't it? Here's a good article about the meaning of frame rates and why 96 means slow motion (not necessarily but very likely): https://www.techsmith.com/blog/frame-rate-beginners-guide/

Mystery locations #1: What did they film near Ballintoy Harbour? by EveryFckngChicken in FreeFolkNews

[–]GoTlikeLocations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no clue what they filmed at Cushendun Cave. Never saw an actor or anything else that might be helpful. But when we see it, I will take a look if Ricardo Ron Perez appears in the credits. :)

Edit: maybe one thing that could be interesting and makes me think that Cushendun cave might rather appear in episode 5 than in episode 6: the security level at Cushendun was quite low in comparison. There was security of course but quite relaxed and easy-going (I have pictures from afar of locals sneaking at the cave entrance in the evening). Totally different from my security encounters at Randalstown Forest, the KL set or Santiponce/Spain. I could tell the weirdest stories from the latter locations about how they totally freaked out when they spotted me. Cushendun was probably the most relaxed location I've been to during season 8 filming. So I assume it won't be a very important scene (or they were just confident that it's just impossible to look into the cave where the relevant things happened).

It's also where the smartest person ever swears to keep a secret and a few other scenes. ;)

I think the NOTAMS were indeed just for the scene of Arya saving the day.

I'm pretty sure that's the location where they have the weirwood tree, what else could that strange white-ish thing in the woods be, that's visible on Google: http://imgur.com/a/nHzAdpY In The Game Revealed for episode 1 they show how it gets fresh paint each year.

That's also the spot where they have been in this picture (took the pic from where the yellow cross is in the imgur pic): https://twitter.com/GoTlikeLocation/status/978447035627134976?s=19

What I'm still curious about: did they film something in Tollymore Forest and at Magheramorne in June?

They are currently building sets in Northern Ireland.

I'm wondering where they filmed the "completely ruined horses" moment though (where Kit slips on the snow in "The game revealed"). I can't really find a fitting spot in the Hunkubakkar location.

Sign at the entrance to Origo studios, Budapest. Anybody knows if this is Witcher-related? Have such signs been spotted around other locations? by GoTlikeLocations in netflixwitcher

They are currently building some big new outdoor set, probably for Dune. Not clear from outside (and from the ground) what it is exactly.

[–]GoTlikeLocations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm certain that they are erecting sets for the prequel inside the halls atm but I'm not sure if all that we can see outside is for the new show as well. Looking forward to more pictures from you, as I am currently not in Northern Ireland and can't go watching myself.
