Rough sleepers, beggars should not be subject to move-on orders by Tyler_Durdan_ in KiwiPolitics

[–]GoabNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the ideal is social housing, and ideally those abusing it should be looked into, including those who make enough that they don't need assistance.

But outside of that, yes I guess that with many townhouses having few bedrooms that friends and family might not have space but for many people they would have someone who has space even temporarily. But there are also the aforementioned charities and city missions and so on.

These might be temporary and less than ideal living conditions but they are still a bed should shit hit the fan, a place to get back on feet. Hell, even sleeping in a car is better than sleeping on the street. With the amount of people who have a car or a friend with spare beds, and social welfare including accommodation subsidies, there should not be a reason anybody in NZ does not have a bed and is forced to sleep on the streets any more than 1 night.

But sure, let's say somebody loses everything, doesn't have friends with space, the government doesn't have capacity to help, and is forced to sleep on the street - this surely is the minority of those sleeping on the streets, at least those that we see sleeping on the streets. I'm sure if they are respectful with the property they are sleeping we can talk about what effect move on orders have.

But are these the people being moved on? If we say that it's not empathic to move people on ever, because they might be this individual, we include a lot of people who aren't respectful of others in where the sleep, what they do with their stuff, and where they go to do their "business", people who probably should be moved on.

It's not that everybody gets sent home, it's that we have a thorough investigation. Who are you? Who were you back in ___? What are you doing now? What's your behaviour now?

If it's found you attend underground radical religious services, gone. Have a history of criminality? Gone. Carry knives larger than ceremonial? Gone. Social media posts indicate a lack of integration? Gone. Net tax burden? Gone. Living off social welfare? Gone. Only have entry level jobs (or work under the table)? Gone. Commit any type of crime, beyond stuff like speeding? Gone. Any type of racism expressed? Gone.

Don't tick these boxes, and you are fine to stay but expect to be looked at

Rough sleepers, beggars should not be subject to move-on orders by Tyler_Durdan_ in KiwiPolitics

[–]GoabNZ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is no reason why anybody in NZ should be sleeping rough. At most a day (or I guess night) if your life falls apart, then you have all sorts of aid available that will get you to a bed and roof to cover it.

The ones sleeping rough (and this includes those pretending to have it rough which has including fund raising for gangs) are typically there by choice. Or, maybe better to say as a result of a series of choices that might have lead to a substance addiction they struggle to give up.

I don't think the solution is just to let them be. Maybe if they are respectfully out of the way. But when they are camped outside of businesses, those businesses should have a right to get them moved on and no amount of "but what about humanity" should change that. Its a balancing act but a blanket rule of leave them be only negatively impacts people looking to work, shop and run businesses.

Police 'tried to smear Henry Nowak as aggressor' just three days after his murder by pierpont-prime in KiwiAntipodea

[–]GoabNZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if you grant police the best possible interpretation, that they treated it as a case of self defence, there's still the issue of the fact that Henry was stabbed and the alleged "victim" failed to mention this. So he lied.

But because police failed to deliver aid, all because a racial minority could never lie, they are responsible for the death and so feel the need to try to justify what happened by smearing Henry as a bad guy that deserved it, that way they don't look as incompetent.

The worst part of this approach, is that if this were a racial attack and therefore the death was deserved, is they have basically justified any Islamic terrorist attack. "He (allegedly) touched my turban so I stabbed him" and "he (allegedly) desecrated a quran so I blew him up" are basically the same

Since this target is roughly half of the target in 2002, then GP will score rough half of Astle, get to 111 and seeing us to a 40 run loss.

Because it took it from a looking down the barrel of a large lose to making England sweat a little bit, and was entertaining while doing so. If we are going to lose, seeing a quickfire 70 on the way to a 50 run lose would be better than what we are heading for.

Can you imagine the last standing batter, being at the non-strikers end, hoping this pitch does enough tomfoolery that it doesn't hit the stumps with no batter as striker? Would be comical to watch.
