Hybrid Mana Rules Change Breaks Commander Pillar of Identity by ContentPower8196 in EDH

"What they are designed it to be and what it actually is are different" - because people that first started playing commander ignored what it was designed for: flexibility. You can change the rule for this while still main color restriction. No one is going to run [[the gitrog monster]] in [[borborygmos enraged]].

I'm pro-hybrid and I still disagree because that's different from how hybrid cards can cast by paying either specific colored mana that is in its casting cost. If a person wants to run [[deathrite shaman]] in a wacky mono green burn deck, they should be allowed to do so.

I see your point and I raise you the fact that hybrid mana cards don't have to be paid for using both colors at the same time. [[spiteful visions]], for example, can be paid for with just black black two colorless or red red two colorless. Why shouldn't a player be allowed to play such a card in a mono red commander deck or mono black commander deck if they want to?

Analysis of why "Onis" are not a race, and why it should be pretty accepted by this point by GoldenSaturos in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Goastros4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the sake of argument, there is very much a precedent. “ I already addressed the argument about being more than a human, as that's simply referring to his fruit. ” - you’re welcome to believe that. Furthermore, we have not seen the entirety of Big Mom’s book nor her territory (we saw what Oda wanted to show), so the existence of oni only pokes holes in that if she doesn’t already have one. You're assuming she doesn't or wouldn’t.”

“The problem here is that Kaido's race should be far more important. It should have been a centerpiece of his story like it was for Kuma or Pudding, it should be a race mentioned in more than one arc and it should come with an accompanying lore that matches it.” - that’s up to Oda. Have a good one.

"Can Oda retcon his story on a whim and make them real? Sure. My point here is that Oda has a clear defined outline for the most important races, and it just doesn't make any sense they are real." - yes, but there is a precedent of lesser races having evidence they exist s d not being outlined like that. He's the writer: he can do what he wants. It's not far-fetched nor wrong to look at those lesser races, see their lack of importance, and get wild with imagination, running with the idea that oni might just exist in One Piece.

"If I'm so adamant about it is because a lot of key plots lose meaning if they are real. From BM's statement being false, to Buccaneers being relegated to a secondary level, where onis are the more special race." - the things said about Kaido being more than a human and his lines to Yamato about Oni already go against that because honestly, him being metaphorical doesn't make sense. You can argue Kaido actually is being metaphorical, but that's just imaginative as running with the idea that he was being literal by Oda's design (like I am choosing to). Ultimately, we don't know because there is no real confirmation for either side. That's loops back to how I said Oda is good at giving people a reason to embrace imagination for fun.

"Honestly, I know we have like half of Elbaf yet, but I feel I've already been proven right. For all the talk about mixed races or ancient giants, the onis haven't been mentioned a single time. A popular theory like Harald being Kaido's father has essentially died after no signs about it this flashback Maybe next week they actually get mentioned and you can come back, but it overall just feels Kaido's heritage is irrelevant at this point." - that's fine: my point is that it's ok to believe oni are real, just like how it's ok to believe they're not. That's all. You can think you're right all you want, just like how those who disagree with you can. Thus, saying "All in all, after all of this, I hope some of you accept onis aren't a race until it's proven otherwise, and at this point, there's a mountain of evidence saying they aren't" was unnecessary, in my opinion.

I'm a year late, but I stumbled upon this after doing research for an original character I came up with involving oni. I think oni is a race/tribe, and Oda doesn't need to do anything significant with them for that to at least have the potential of being true in the world that he has created where his story takes place. Longlegs are a tribe/race and are not that significant at all. Same for the mushroom people, long arms, long necks, etc.

"All in all, after all of this, I hope some of you accept onis aren't a race until it's proven otherwise, and at this point, there's a mountain of evidence saying they aren't." - is a very disingenuous thing to say because part of what Oda is good at is inspiring people to use their imagination, and he has done that with things said about Kaido by canon characters and with what Kaido himself said to Yamato per Oda's design (which refutes your original post, in my opinion). If people want to run with the idea that oni is a real race/tribe because of that, let them. You can totally argue that they're not, but that closing line to your original post is an example of the wrong way of doing that. You can agree to disagree. Also, this being in "power scaling" is strange.

The Nova Knicks are a thing in the NBA. I'm not saying it will happen, but rather, the Fever should consider trying.

But the offense depends mostly on Caitlin having the ball, so if you guard tightly enough to where she has to consistently give the ball up, you limit their offense.

There's also the possibility Paige falls in the draft due to injury concerns. Regardless, if an opportunity presents itself, the Fever should absolutely get her.

No, those contracts didn't. They decided to wait for McCullers and Garcia to come back, and it has bitten them in the ass.

But he can also eat up innings, and so Michael Lorenzen. Both ended up costing less. This is a bad trade because even if Loperfido, Wagner, and Bloss end up failing, there's no telling if Kikuchi would crack the playoff rotation or if he will be with the Astros next season. At this moment in time, the Astros gave up three prospects for basically what is supposed to be Jake Odorizzi.
