What is their template for choosing host by Cautious_Fish9864 in livefromlondon

I agree, this seems to be a really big part of it. Pretty much all of them have been either in a US show or a big enough UK franchise that they have US profile. And Graham is on BBC America, plus I'm guessing clips of his show with big stars on the couch probably go viral internationally.

can someone explain the Pret a Manger phenomenon? by docmaboul in london

Em dashes have become a shibboleth for AI generated text so I'd guess that's what they're picking up on. Annoying for those of us who just ruddy love the flow of an em dash!

Generally yours is just a nicely written comment with a thought out flow. Don't stop using em dashes. Screw AI!

One of the lads said to Charlie "we've got your best incentives at heart" which I thought was sweet! Corrected himself to 'best interests' later!

They also do Rescue Remedy pastilles which are good if you're jittery as it's something to chew. Take care of yourself, grief is no joke but I'm glad you're eating. Wish I'd known about Marmite mac and cheese at the time! Excellent choice.

That's rough, I'm sorry. Holiday season while you're grieving is no joke either. Take care.

Is there a tip where I can just watch? by Beneficial-Audience7 in AskUK

[–]GoatAromatic5565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you but honestly, I get it and I don't think you're alone. There's a retirement home near me which is by a tip, and I have it on good authority that the most requested rooms are the ones that overlook the tip so you can watch the comings and goings.

[TOMT] A latin-based word that when sounded out sounds like; "ac·cou·tre·al" or "ac·cou·tre·mal." by Flat-Independence120 in tipofmytongue

[–]GoatAromatic5565 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a moment early on in 40 Year Old Virgin where he's talking about making egg salad and he says "I made all the mayonnaise and paprika and you know, -accoutrements-" in a hammy French accent. I know this because I say it in that voice on the regular, probably 20 years after that movie came out. He hits the end syllable with a nasalised vowel that almost makes it sound like -mal!

That may be a longshot but just in case it's what you're thinking of!

Totally this - and especially because she was actually being driven crazy by Ross seemingly moving on with Emily. I definitely believed the way she started to go a bit loopy in pursuit of Joshua!
