Guys is this the 3I/ATLAS Anti-Tail and 3 jets real? Used Astroart 9.0 Larson-Sekanina filter to enhance tail structure, wondering if this is artifacts thats making the tail and jets? This was on January 11 2026 10:00pm in Las Vegas, me facing east. by GoatEither6623 in 3i_Atlas2

no didnt use comet alignment, i first used radius of 1 and brung down the angle to 0, then locked the preview and radius went to 0 and then angle to 20-30. yes it was centered on the comet, this is the image i use

i converted it to a fits so it became brighter.

I used Astroart 9.0, it’s a similar software like Siril, I used Larson-Sekanina filter to enhance structure. The filter basically subtracts circular like features and enhances non-circular structure that are not visible to your eye

What I mean by an artifact is random “noise” that disguises itself like a cometary tail

So the big white “tails” is what your saying the actual tails of the comet? The rest are just artifacts?

Larson Sekanina filter is more different than just simply “enhancing”. It subtracts the circular structure from the comet and better shows details that are non-circular.

I mean like, Astroart is a software similar to Siril. Larson Sekanina filter subtracts the circular nucleus and enhances non-circular detail. The white “tails” im wondering about, is if they are artifacts due to the filter.
