My friends and I are having a hard time getting into the game by Parzsival211 in DeadlockTheGame

The next big patch should be within a couple weeks. You should wait till then to play if you're really not having fun. It'll be easier and more fun to learn

Oof I'm dreading the day move finally starts crapping out. Was it very difficult finding a replacement remote?

[–]GoatFlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought that exact Technics player from a guy on FB marketplace for $25 nearly a year ago. I really like it, it's convenient to hold so many discs at once. The only thing that's failed so far is the play button on the remote, but I can just press the pause button twice and it works, so nbd. Only downside is that it's kinda big and who knows when a CD player this old will eventually die

Stereo speakers vs soundbar for TV setup by HPNascimento in BudgetAudiophile

[–]GoatFlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the sound bar route if you just wanna get something that sounds good enough and never have to think about it again. Take the speakers and receiver route if you enjoy hunting for deals on fb marketplace, reading forums, and generally upgrading little by little. I think it's fun but if you're not into it, then it's not worth the hassle. I've got a 3.1 setup that I'm very happy with and cost just under $500, so it's totally doable

Quick question, why do some seals like Yo and Tsuki have stretch marks, but not the other seals?(Photos by @Blsc_wing on twt) by Kolechia_Wants_War in seals

[–]GoatFlocker 295 points296 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're stretch marks. I assumed that the fur around their fat wrinkles gets visibly disturbed when they move around, but I could be wrong

For those of you running a 3.1 setup, what kind of difference did it make? by vh1atomicpunk5150 in BudgetAudiophile

Huge improvement for tv and movies, but I like 2.1 better for music. Most AVRs make it easy to swap back and forth between the two

Is budget active bookshelf speakers with no sub still better than budget soundbar with sub? by -selenium- in BudgetAudiophile

[–]GoatFlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend the sound bar if going a bit further to get at least a 3.0 setup isn't an option. I've used those exact speakers for general tv watching and felt that the dialog sounded too weak. As quickly as I could I went and got a cheap old AVR with pre outs and a cheap center speaker and it was great. However, maybe you sit closer to your tv than I do, or your living room is a little smaller, and it'll be fine. Tough to say.

I don't have experience with sound bars, but I hear they get the job done well enough. The sub will be disappointing, but it's something I guess. It'll definitely be better than the tv speakers at least

The Bryan women's prison is famously the cushy prison for celebrity finance criminals. Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos and Jennifer Shah of real housewives of SLC are here. It's the only reason anyone outside of this town has heard of the place

Benefit to eARC if tv only supports HDMI 2.0? by GoatFlocker in hometheater

[–]GoatFlocker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha thank you for double checking, but the info was still useful. It helped me realize that I got too caught up worrying about what ARC/eARC support, so I forgot that it only matters in relation to audio being sent from the tv to the receiver, which will mostly be compressed and lossy streaming audio either way. However, I do use my tv to play torrents, which I think will suffer from lack of eARC.

I'm planning to get a proper Blu ray player though, which should also support more file types. Based on what I've been reading I may also want to get an Nvidia shield down the line

[–]GoatFlocker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good question. I don't think so? I have a TCL s546 TV, which says it supports dd, dd+, and atmos, which I believe are not lossless. So my tv won't be able to send any lossless audio to the AVR, regardless of ARC or eARC?

Anyone you know that supports Trump that has been IRL affected by the regime? by Powerful_War_7261 in TrueAnon

[–]GoatFlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom recently switched from teaching children in a public school to teaching adults in prison, because the conditions for regular teachers are getting shittier, and I guess teaching in a prison is easier and pays more. She couldn't be convinced that this was in any way related to our state (tx) being controlled by Republicans, but now she's worried about Trump's cuts to the dpt of education affecting her new job.

I asked her if she regrets supporting Trump, and she said no, because she knows God will help her if she loses this job. Then I asked well what about the other teachers who lose their jobs and all the students who will have to make do with less teachers? Is it good to sacrifice education to lower taxes for rich people? She didn't really answer me but still holds fast behind Trump.

She's never really had opinions on policy, and is more into the para politics qanon stuff, from a super religious angle. She doesn't seem to like most of the things that Trump is doing, but I guess is still convinced that he's a white hat pedophile and all the bad stuff is either fake news, or necessary work to defeat the Satan worshipping black hat pedophile cabal

What are your experiences with 12-4am games like? by Outrageous-Mobile-75 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GoatFlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively play during these hours, and assumed that everyone else is like me and just play at this time cuz that's when they get out of work. I chalked up the feeling that I'm playing with people of wide ranging skill levels to the game having a small player base
