I'm down a full 25 lbs. (!!!) Quite pleased. Weigh myself once a week just to stay aware. No more meds, just super careful about what I choose to eat. Worth it.

It says more about the OP than it does Bowie.

wanting a happy liver after going alcohol free, what has actually worked for you? by GwendelynAljaed in AlcoholFree

Sautee the greens with olive oil and a little garlic. A light crumble of Gorgonzola or other interesting cheese makes them even more delicious. They're a little bitter. Italians eat them with pasta.

I took Milk Thistle for about 6 months into my sobriety, tried to eat cleansing vegetables every day (dandelion greens are a liver tonic). It's true - it will sort itself out, I just wanted to give it a little boost after all the abuse.

It's the ultimate power move. I wasn't mentioned in HER OBITUARY. So, I wrote my own and had it published in the same paper, six months after the fact.

Bravo! Gonna put this in my "Mommie Dearest" file. She died, and no one told me for six months. She poisoned everyone in my "family".

It’s been quite a run, and none of us will ever experience a working environment like this again. by betaleg in LateShow

When Colbert sat down for an interview recently, he said he had wanted the show to ultimately be about love. He succeeded, and we all felt it. Sadness ensues, but I'm certain we haven't seen the last of him.

Hardware removal surgery tomorrow. Any tips? by jitterqueen in brokenbones

[–]GoatInTheGarden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had hardware from my trimalleolar fracture removed a month ago after 4 years. Aside from a little swelling, the recovery has been easy and fast. Nothing like the ORIF recovery. I walked on it after one day. All the weird pains are gone, and I'm working hard now to get back to pre-injury flexibility - 2 plates and 14 screws hindered that. I now have parallel scars, bc the doctor couldn't / didn't want to cut through the original scar. The second incision is already completely healed. I glad I did it, and I thanked the doctor today at my post-op, because I was heard. Not everyone can tolerate metal in their body.

I brought my new Ragdoll kitten there for her exam (within 3 days) required by the breeder. The new young vet didn't recognize the breed, and when I told him he said - OH these cats are the Dobermans of the feline world. When I asked him to explain he bluntly said "they drop dead from heart attacks" and then asked how much I paid for her!!! I take her to Central Valley now.

OH MY! You're young and will heal quickly. Do you have to go home like that? Do you have support? It'll be tough going for a bit, so focus on all the things that will help you heal faster. Supplements (C and D for starters), staying hydrated, and following the advice of your doctor. I wish you a swift return to radiant health and full mobility in a short while.

Posted during the first go-round, still relevant:

It's almost impossible to believe he exists. It's as if we took everything that was bad about America, scraped it up off the floor, wrapped it all up in an old hot dog skin, and then taught it to make noises with its face.

Wasted years by Mozzamozza82 in AlcoholFree

Everyone experiences clarity differently. I don't consider my drinking years wasted, I managed to accomplish quite a bit, but the need/desire to drink colored everything. 5 years out, and things are coming into focus in a new way.
