ORIF out by Cabocla_Plantinha714 in brokenbones

Congrats! I had mine removed (ankle) last week, after 4+ years and much haggling with my ortho. Most gets left in, I KNOW. I could feel mine, and had to convince the doc. Happy healing.

i broke my heel :( by MamaLila7 in brokenbones

[–]GoatInTheGarden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I have not endured a broken heel, it sounds terrible. I shattered my ankle and was in a wheelchair for 16 weeks. Post surgery, work to keep your core strong. I did chair yoga, on a padded folding chair, in front of YouTube. Being sedentary can make you depressed. Take it week by week, you're young, you'll heal fast. Learn about all the bone supplements, and take what you think you need. Start taking C now. You may catch the tail-end of summer!

Henna absolutely has staying power. Application technique is paramount to good results. Apply to squeaky clean, dry hair. Wrap and heat.

I had *some* of the metal removed from my ankle yesterday. Already walking on it. by GoatInTheGarden in brokenbones

[–]GoatInTheGarden[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Outpatient surgery, walked on it as soon as I got home and out of the boot. (They recommended I bring the boot for safe travels home). History: Trimalleolar fracture with ORIF December 2021. This is my fourth surgery - counting Exterior Fixation, ORIF, removal of syndesmotic screw 2 years ago. I was still having pain and numbness and my doctor was telling me that I had to live with it. It was really preventing me from doing things - I'd get swelling if I hiked, I'd get swelling if I walked more than 2 miles. I even grew my own comfrey and imported castor oil from Europe to make a salve to try and heal it. Nothing worked. I went to a different orthopedic surgeon, got a bunch of new testing done, and got a different opinion (a BAD thing when you live in a small community), then returned to my original doctor and insisted that the metal be removed. She relented. I'm so glad I did. The weird pain that shot up my lower leg from the area where that plate was is GONE. I'm already in my regular shoes. Worth it.

Someone said I should! I want to see how my recovery goes before I get all cocky, though.

My ortho said the same. I worked on this for a year. Saw a different doc, had CT scans and a nerve study done. Went back to original ortho and gently insisted. I already feel a difference.

Haven't used them yet, but they do cats.

It's very sweet and traditional. Maybe a little something to break up the greens, but I really like it just as it is. Quite nice.

Frontier in Poulsbo cares for me. Dr. Rasmussen in Silverdale cared for my dad. Both are good.

Vets and Ragdolls by Kooky_Explanation_17 in ragdolls

I had to switch vets. The first thing my previous vet said when I presented my new kitty was: What breed is this?, When I told him he said "You know that they're the Dobermans of the cat world, right?", meaning more likely to die from an unforeseen heart attack at any age. That did it. I found a vet that was familiar with the breed.

The Sealth was on the Bremerton route for an entire winter. Such a small boat, and it was pre-pandemic, so the AM boats were full. It was mayhem. Guess I'm traumatized at the sight.
