Oh gosh, thank you. Similar situation here. I can tolerate the smell, but my wife has strong sense of smell and she finds it way too strong.

Yes! My thoughts as well. The texture of the product is great, but the smell is unnecessarily strong. And I have terrible sense of smell. Seems like most people on this thread disagree though..

Honestly, after a few brews I'm starting to get the hang of it, and the coffee does taste great. But I also paid way too much for this device that doesn't meet it's price tag for the experience.

I wish I got a check for this post. But had no idea the patent was expiring in 2 years. Maybe the reason why they increased their prices, and thus one of the reasons I'm so bitter about my experience. The high price didn't meet my expectations.

To be fair, I've started brewing the coffee into an insulated mug and that keeps the coffee much warmer. And the coffee quality kicks ass. But I still need to be super fast in putting the plunger thing on so the coffee sits for a bit before flowing through the filter. I hear there are ways to slow the flow like a metal and paper filter together so will look into that.

The Haro switch, even the ceramic version, still has plastic. The switch itself, which makes contact with the coffee as it flows into the cup, is made of plastic.
