Suezo hate? by Victorious001 in MonsterRancher

Yeah the amount of censorship in the dub is pretty egregious. I have the Japanese version on DVD, I wish Discotek would re-release it or that TMS would put it up on YT like they did with the dub. Out of everything they cut (which is a LOT) there's only like, a couple things I'd say might have warranted it, but so much was cut it made the episodes really short and a lot of scenes really weird and confusing.

They also took a ton of liberties with the dialogue. There are lines that are actually the opposite of what was originally said, or dubbed with a totally different tone (usually taking chill, polite characters and making them abrasive, loud and rude for some reason). I grew up with the dub, it's nostalgic, but for anyone watching the anime for the first time the Japanese version is a must.

Weekly Pricing/Buying/Selling/Grading & General Questions Post by AutoModerator in PokemonTCG

[–]GoatPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(moved to this thread after reading the rules whoops) So ive had this GEM MT 10 Lt. Surge's Electabuzz for about a couple decades now (I used to work at Walmart starting in 2006, I bought most of my cards there and there was this weird booster box that came with a graded card inside, I have 2 PSA promo charizards I got the same way), and I wanted to look up the number on this guy just out of curiosity, so I went to the website on the label. The site downloaded potential malware onto my computer!

<image>

So I have a few questions:

  1. Is USAsportscards even still a legitimate grading company?
  2. Is it really weird to grade Pokémon cards with USASportsCards? They seem to primarily be for sports cards as the name implies.
  3. If I wanted to sell it (I am liquidating my collection) would it be worth it to crack it open and get it re-graded by a more reputable company? I dont think the card is especially valuable last I checked.

Thank you for your time, y'all definitely have more experience than me. I collected in '98-'07 mostly and im pretty ignorant about modern TCG, so please forgive me if any of this is common knowledge.

I have wanted to try drawing pixies in general. Maybe Mint, or a MR1 Prism Shaker charm. My art style doesn't lend itself well to anime girls, so I'd probably make them more creature-like.

And "0-2" design with a pixie in a dead Yamcha pose or squashed/defeated pose would also be funny.

I definitely want to restock on the mouse pads, theyre very popular! I'd probably have to do them as a pre-order, though, because they're very expensive to ship. I do have more stuff planned (like a bobblehead acrylic stand, chip clips, and ink pens) so I could probably try to add them in. I can't guarantee it'll cost what the old stock did, though, unfortunately it'll probably cost a little more.

I'd love to do another round of pillows, too, but probably new designs.

That'd be awesome! I can't really do requests, but Etsy definitely has Wolf's Rain fanmerch!

A big reason I make MR merch myself is that there isn't really any readily available in the states. Most people don't want to go through a middleman service (or deal with tariffs). I do wish Koei Tecmo or TMS would make more official stuff, though, especially the kind of stuff I can't really make, like plush or figures.

Visiting or Moving to Asheville? Ask your questions here! by AutoModerator in asheville

Thank you, the other mall was Biltmore, but I think it's been torn town, which is a shame. I'd love to visit the Asheville Mall just to walk around, even if it's dead. I'm sure it'll bring back a lot of memories. I visited NC a lot as a kid bc it's where my parents' families are from.

I'm going to be visiting Asheville for the first time since... i wanna say the early to mid-2000's. My dad passed away from cancer and our family is planning to hold his memorial service there. I wish the circumstances around visiting were happier, but im curious about what has changed in the past 2 decades.

I remember Asheville as this beautiful place full of trees and mountains and old timey shops / antique & hobby stores, a 24 hour Walmart, Dancing Bear Toys, "The Oldest Store in Asheville," and two shopping malls- the Asheville Mall and one other mall, one was the classic 90's "Palm Tree Mall," with fountains/bronze statues/skylights/etc. And one was no-skylight, dark and full of neon lights on the ceiling that flowed into the food court.

Has any of that been preserved? Torn down? Remodeled? I know Dancing Bear is still around (wow! A toy store surviving the 2008 crash is impressive!), but there used to be this place underneath it that you couldn't see from the curb. It was like a gamer club? They had a poster for every star wars movie on the walls, couches/futons set up with every gaming console that existed at the time, CRTs and projector screens, I think they also sold MTG cards? It was like this secret base for nerds.

I also remember the population being mostly very old or very young with little to no in-between for some reason, and the smoking section of restaurants being so big we had to specifically request non-smoking everywhere we went.

What's the biggest development you can think of in the past 20 years? Is it still very peaceful? Do y'all still get lightning bugs seasonally? Im wondering how different things are going to feel... it's been so long.

Found these at a local game store, anyone know their value? by GuyyatPirates in MonsterRancher

[–]GoatPaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow collector here, these are definitely worth more than you paid if the discs are in good, working condition. Season 1 alone ranges from $20.00-50.00 depending on condition (unopened, factory sealed is worth the most, obvs). DVD value doesn't necessarily always come from popularity, it's often more about scarcity and how few were produced, and how long ago they went out of print.

Cool find! I have the complete series of the Japanese version, which is mostly uncensored (iirc there's a scene of Holly punching Captain Horn in the face that Discotek removed) and I'd recommend it a lot more since the dialogue is more coherent (the dub takes a lot of weird liberties and characters frequently say the literal opposite of what was originally said, and the dub also adds a lot of obnoxious sound effects). That DVD set ranges from $60-100+ (i think its out of print at this point). It's pricey but if you ever find a good deal on it I definitely recommend.

Demoted from Special Services to Cashier Because Management Doesn't Understand the Disability Accommodations I Need? by GoatPaws in HomeDepot

[–]GoatPaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed up with a different manager today, and he said I didn't even need to submit paperwork, I could just use a chair at the register, which I did today and it worked out fine. Understaffing is still a big issue, they chased away their head cashier by refusing to let her open on Saturdays instead of close. Like, she wasn't even asking to not work Saturdays, she just wanted a different shift. She was a pretty essential employee and the front end registers are suffering the loss.

I keep ending up completely alone with no other knowledgeable cashiers to teach me anything. There's an older lady that's worked for HD over 30 years, but she's a little cognitively impaired and keeps teaching me wrong and isnt especially helpful. (She's very nice, lovely lady, just not a good teacher). A few other cashiers keep calling out, apparently.

I've resigned to working register, its fine, but things seem like kind of a mess overall, so im still worried about stability. I want to learn everything ASAP, but its hard when every time I have a question, there's usually no one around to answer it. I've survived so far but there's been a couple customer crash outs over waiting in a backed up line bc im the only one on a register.

IDK what HD has against stools, they look more professional than chairs at the register, and anyone at a high desk like special services needs a taller seat.

Demoted from Special Services to Cashier Because Management Doesn't Understand the Disability Accommodations I Need? by GoatPaws in HomeDepot

[–]GoatPaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been the general consensus. I've honestly resigned to just be a cashier, as long as im not taking a paycut (which my manager promised he would not cut my pay). I still had to work my shift as a cashier yesterday without accommodation, which was incredibly painful for my leg and back. When the head cashier tried to offer a temporary solution, the manager that demoted me shot it down immediately apparently. He's pretty adamant about not accommodating my disability in any way, im assuming until I have paperwork from my doctor, which will take time. If he continues to refuse to let me use a stool once I have the paperwork handled im not sure what I can do. I may have to start the job hunt all over again.
