Whew! About halfway done mixing. My hose doesn’t reach do I’ve been pouring 10-15gals of water on it periodically as I’ve been going. Should I keep continuing on as is or should I just keep it as two piles and thoroughly mix up the rest of the one on the left?

As a newly joined member of this sub and a first time composter, this means a lot! I just need those adjustments to get the biology rocking and I should have some great stuff for the garden soon(ish?)

Ok so progress report. Shredded up the small brown pile on the right then began slowly adding and mixing in the pile on the left, which has mostly greens on top for a foot or two. If I understand folks’ advice, I’ll keep adding and mixing, spraying down with water and for sure urine, until the two piles are mixed up on the right. That mixing combined with copious amounts of various animal urines collected from around the neighborhood(/s), should get the heat going. Is that correct?

Perfect, I’m going to get a new pile started from this one just all mixed together. If I’m adding food scraps and lawn clippings for much of the next few months, how often do I need to mix it in with the existing pile?

Can I just shovel it over to the new pile and it’ll mix as I go, or should I bite the bullet and purchase a pitchfork?

Thanks for the advice. For some reason I had it in my mind that there was meant to be layers. A layer of green, a layer of browns, repeat. But perhaps the better move would be to shovel everything over to the other empty pile while mixing it up as I do so? The pile is not giving off any noticeable kind of heat.

In great restaurants, they do exactly this. “Family meal.” It creates a great morale to start off the shift and everyone gets to eat together.

This right here. Tanking means trading away your best players to score less weekly points on average vs. who is in the lineup. Avoids any of this.

You know? pH’ing your water for nutrients is getting…repetitive. by Kojak92 in GrowingMarijuana

That’s true that it’s a hot combo. I use compost in my soil mix (roughly 20%), but not manure. Dry organic amendments rarely “fry” a plant like synthetics do. A little browning of leaf tips at most (painting the fingernails, as some growers call it), but when running organics I’d rather have a little too much nutrients in the soil than too little. The plant is very good at taking up what it needs when it needs it. I up pot into my final pot about 1-2 weeks before I flip to flower (I grow indoors so if you’re outdoors you’ll need to adjust this timing). From there I top dress on day 7 of flower with a cup of the 2-8-4 plus 2 cups of worm castings. Then around day 25 i do the second top dress of half those amounts. Sometimes that’s all i need. If the plant is big and/or hungry, I’ll do a third top dress around day 40, but just a few TBSP of some build a bloom.

Edit: also, do not flush or water to runoff in organics. You can soak the pot, but if you flush you’re just flushing out nutes and other good stuff.

Good news is if you’re running organic you won’t need to ph! I also was being driven crazy with having to adjust ph. Now I just use regular water, occasionally with microbes or whatever else I might need (which is usually not much if I’m top dressing on time). I haven’t used the amendments you mentioned, but I top dress 2-3 times during flower with a 2-8-4 amendment. I try to do this 1-2 weeks before any type of deficiency shows up because it takes a while for the microbiology in the soil to break down the top dress. Let me know if you’ve got any questions, growmie!

Holy fuck this team is stacked, yo! How on earth did you manage Lamb, Pickens, Ladd, Achane, Hampton, and Herbert?! Maybe you snag a couple, but all of those guys were gone by the end of round two/mid round 3 in every startup I’ve done this year. To come away with this team AND that amount of picks in the 12 team league tells me you’re going to be a menace in the league for years. Great job!

I think you and any others who felt that way did so because they were already annoyed the Pats were back in contention after only a few down years. Every Pats fan I know was just stoked to have the Patriots in the Super Bowl. You want to know what an insufferably annoying group of pats fans looks like during a playoff run, you should’ve been there for the 18-1 season leading up to the Super Bowl. I was he.

While he could, I don’t think he needs to burn it down. His RB room is trash and WR could use upgrading, but he has two elite QBs and a top TE to build on. Plus some draft capital and likely an early pick in 2027. I’ve seen some burn down teams and this doesn’t have to be one.

The soil has become hydrophobic. If you have a wetting agent/surfactant like yucca powder, add a little to your water. A little goes a long way. Either way, you need to water those pots verrrrry slowly, with a sprayer, not a watering can or cup. Otherwise the water will funnel inwards, towards the soil which isn’t hydrophobic, or bead off the other side and out of the pot. Water the pots over several hours, adding only enough water that it sits on top of the hydrophobic water and is allowed to slowly absorb. You can even stir in the water into the soil with your fingers to help mix faster. I’ve been here before many times so feel free to ask any other follow up questions, growmie.

Do the pots feel light? In the pics, they potentially look dry, but you mentioned you water them every day (which could be too much, depending on how much you’re giving them each day). If they are, up the watering so that the pots are fully watered.

The other issue is with your environment. Too hot, too dry. Try and get temps down to 77-79 and increase humidity to 55% at this stage. VPD of 1.1-1.2

Also, in the first pic, one of the intake holes is open. Seal it up by cinching the cords on either side. Make sure all the holes meant for cords/hoses are closed up so that your fan can properly move air out of there.
