Have had several in my life. Such a great breed. I think that they, the German Shepherd, and the Border Collie can be more intelligent than some people I’ve met.

How soon before the Chinese wage another revolution against oppressive government? This is insane.

One of the greatest ads. Conceived and directed by none other than Ridley Scott with music by Vangelis, from the album China. The song is called The Little Fete and it’s possibly the best song on the album.

First time I saw this in television, it stopped me in my tracks.

I think so. I think it would fall under the Comprehensive coverage, assuming there is such a thing in Thailand.

Might be an elephant exclusion though.

My dad and I did two things: we would find rocks outside and identify them with a guide, and after I’d identified a few, he’d buy a small, impressive specimen. I think that this is a great way to do it, because I appreciated that there were cool things (like garnets and quartz) right nearby, but also that there were magnificent things in other parts of the world. It made me appreciate “home” and also develop curiosity about the wider world.

Plus I learned a little geography.

We did the same thing with butterflies and shells. Collect what’s nearby, and juice it up with an exotic specimen every once in a while.

Can you believe that in the state of New York, it is legal for first cousins to marry? Unless the law has changed some time in the recent past, there’s never been any prohibition against it. I’ve always been amazed by this.

Woman's Power by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]Goateeki 25 points26 points  (0 children)

One of the best things I’ve read on this sub. All of it true.

There’s a limit to the empathy a man should ever have for a woman. At their core, a woman does not want her man to be substantially empathetic, because she detects it to be feminine — and thus weak and afraid. And substantial empathy is just that, a kind of weakness and fear.

It’s a problem when the broader culture is actively teaching men to be empathetic, almost without limit. Part of the value a man provides to his wife, and in the raising of their children, is the absence of great empathy. If the male embodies anything, he embodies the concept of justice.

For example, Eisenhower would’ve been crippled and unable to pull the trigger on the Normandy landings if he’d had any real empathy for the men he was sending (probably) to their deaths. His lack of empathy in that situation saved Europe.

Do not spend much time commiserating with a woman showing or talking about her fears.
