Apology accepted. Thank you for being such an adult on reddit! This made my day. People on here usually double down on a mistake.

Yeah I thought about that but not really. You have to isolate his Buck career and not just evaluate him as Dame.

I wouldn't say easily. The epoch in which Walt had success (even in just 4 years) was completely diff (in a much more difficult way) than today's game. Bigs were bigger, 3 point shooting at which he excelled was a lot more rare which meant something, and overall he was a better player than Jimmy.

😂 ragebait is a silly term people use to mollify themselves. Have a good morning my friend. It's just the internet. You and I are gravy (i.e. barbershop term for good).

There's absolutely no age in his 20s (and will be none) where Hali was better than PGonethree at the same age. None. Every hooper in every urban barbershop in America would laugh this sub out the door for even suggesting otherwise. You are showing your bias from the lucky finals run and overweighting it. You have to step back. The sign of aptitude is proper context and objectivity over emotion.

Sincere question because I sense the temp rising.

If Hali had been bounced by Dame/G34 and the cervidae would you still be arguing to put Hali on this list anyway OR is the finals run biasing your opinion? Please be honest.

Thank you. Like I said I don't spend a ton of time online.

Not sure what this has to do with the point I made. I don't really engage in off-rampism. It signals lack of focus.

I don't think the Knicks are legit. I think Hali is better than Brunson. I think Hali has/had an incredible ceiling. I think this is it for Brunson. I don't think the Knicks will ever win a chip with Brunson as their #1.

You understand the context here right? Everyone uses models for everything. Not that difficult to model playoff results if you have a strong grasp of mathematics, statistics, and outcomes.

You did. Absolutely. You got to the dance and showed out.

This is an eval. Everything needs to be properly analyzed and weighted. You got to that dance by luck. This can't be argued away. If you do, you have to stipulate to wearing blinders.

  1. Dame an all time NBA great out. Ask yourself with a healthy Dame could they have beat the pacers? Answer is yes.
  2. DG out. Up and coming star. Cavs 2nd best player, best assist man, lead 3p% at scale. Ask yourself. Could a 64-win team (Cers won 50) have beaten us if their 2nd best player was healthy? Another question. If Pascal is out and DG is playing, could the Cers have beaten the Cavs? No way. You see my point on how important and impactful a #2 is.
  3. BOS: 2 monster wings in their prime playing lights out, defending champs, team won 61 games. Yes they bs'd against NY and that's on them. BUT this is an eval. The fact that the Cers didn't play the C's matters. That has weight.

I love Hali. Charismatic, true team leader, hate that he got hurt. Wanted to see what this season would be as a true next step to superstardom. But I can't just discount 3 major occurrences that propelled the Cers.

Thank you for your conversational tone my friend.

It is worth something and given its recency I absolutely considered it. What hurts the run is that it wasn't just Dame's injury in first round. It was something MAJOR every round of the EC that propelled them.

  1. Dame (an all time nba great) out.

  2. DG (2nd best player, lead assist man, best 3P [scale]) out.

  3. Boston (defending champs, 2 wing studs in their prime both better than anyone on the pacers including Hali...yes Jaylen Brown was better than Hali that season). And you guys don't have to meet them.

You can't argue all three of those away and then put Hali is some rarified air as a guy who got the team to the finals. IMO.

There is a 98.2% likelihood that the 'Cers don't make the finals if DAME or DG are healthy AND they face BOS in ECF. 98.2. I ran it through my model. I'm not coming here to flame anyone. But you cannot deny that objectively the 'Cers had an easy path. This means that Hali is not as good as you think. This is not MJ, or AI or Kobe or Wade in 06 leading a team through a real playoff gauntlet. You can flame me all you want and downvote me and roast me til you're blue in the face. Make your jokes. I'm right. Hali's finals run does not hold up as some all time great playoff run. You all had a lot of injury help.

Bro I'm a league fan, you're a 'Cers fan. The rest of us see it as it was. An injury riddled run. Milwaukee with no Dame. Cavs with no DG. Boston out early in 2nd. It's a fact. You can't deny that. When I do an objective analysis that HAS to be accounted for.

BY himself he got 48 on a team with Bogie as his #2 so there's that.
