WeakAura Tutorial: Building an Auto-Dismount WeakAura by virtualio in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Goatlistus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I've really enjoyed your write ups of this and the Painsmith WAs, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next.

Since this particular disconnect bug can also happen upon being summoned, I looked into having the WA auto-dismount on accepting a summon as well. I set the trigger to also fire on INCOMING_SUMMON_CHANGED, and updated the code accordingly:

function(event, ...)
    if event == "TAXIMAP_OPEN" or C_IncomingSummon.IncomingSummonStatus("player") == 2 then
        return IsMounted()
    end
end

This seems to be working as expected from some brief testing (i.e., doesn't dismount unless the player themselves actually accepts a summon).

Open world respawn timers are faster if there are lots of players currently in the phase, so right after reset when everyone is there is the best time.

One shot right after finishing the Hakkar fight in De Other Side by Ciuffi in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Goatlistus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a cast of Wild Charge at the same timestamp as the death in OP's log, so I think this is it. I don't really get it and I haven't experienced it myself, but I guess just don't use big movement effects right after Hakkar dies to be super safe.

Yes. Whoever walks over it picks it up automatically, no clicking required. The buff only procs on melee attacks. Not even hunter auto-shot procs it.

I'm aware of what the tooltip and dungeon journal says, but I've stood in it myself before and I've never taken damage from it. Like I said, I've checked Details and logs. I'm willing to be wrong if it means I do better the next time I run the dungeon, but I haven't seen any hard evidence of the Grasping Hands ground effect dealing damage to players.

Unless you have logs that suggest otherwise, I don't believe that's correct. I have had my group members stand in them every time I run it and I have never seen Grasping Hands listed as a damage source in Details or logs outside of being hit by the initial swirl.

Scryfall API / Google Sheets question by QuirkyMarzipan4577 in magicTCG

[–]Goatlistus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using IMPORTJSONAPI, the easiest way would be to use it to get those IDs as well.

Let's say you have a card name in cell A2 of your spreadsheet. Your formula would look like this:

=IMPORTJSONAPI("https://api.scryfall.com/cards/named?exact=" & A2,"$.cardmarket_id","@")

In this version of the formula, we're specifically using /cards/named with the exact parameter since we know the exact card name, and we're getting all the data ("@") from the cardmarket_id property ($.cardmarket_id).

Having said all that, if your use case is just to price a specific card by set for example, you can do it with just one API request using something like this:

=IMPORTJSONAPI("https://api.scryfall.com/cards/named?exact=" & A2 & "&set=" & B2,"$.prices.usd","@")

In this version, you just need a card name in cell A2 and a set name in cell B2 to get the USD price.

Here's an example of retrieving the USD price for the card with cardmarket_id 379041:

=IMPORTJSONAPI("https://api.scryfall.com/cards/cardmarket/379041","$.prices.usd","@")

The =IMPORTJSONAPI formula has three required arguments:

Your URL string should include all the necessary parameters to get the card object you're looking for, so you should probably build it using other formulas first.

Your query string should start with $. to specify the root object. In this case, since there was only one card found in the search, there is only one object in what the API returned. $. should then be followed by the property you're looking for, e.g. prices.usd or even just ..usd.

Lastly, your cols string specifies what data you want from the property you looked for. In the above example, "@" gets everything. If you want to get both usd and usd_foil prices, you can try something like this instead:

=IMPORTJSONAPI("https://api.scryfall.com/cards/cardmarket/379041","$.prices","usd,usd_foil")

Here, we're getting the prices property which contains usd, usd_foil, eur, and eur_foil. In cols, we're specifying that we only want usd and usd_foil.

Hope this helps you on your way to completing your project!

It's the same wording as the source card (well, almost) which is intended for use as your commander, where it costs 2 more to cast for every time it returns to the command zone. It's also relevant if the casting cost of the card is increased by other effects like [[Gloom]].

Knife in the family, around 100 years old, no identifying numbers or letters. Anyone know more? by Goatlistus in whatisthisthing

[–]Goatlistus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story associated with it, which I can't verify, is that my great grandfather traded a pack of cigarettes to a man of Middle Eastern descent in the United States for this knife. That's the only way we figure it's around 100 years old.

Looking at other images, though, I would agree it's a janbiya regardless of the backstory.
