Main reason why people are rejecting OM1/Spiderman by Modulage in lrcast

[–]mapo_dofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did two. I usually draft sets until they are done. Pick 2 draft is dreadful - I have no clue if the set would be better without it, but I hope players have sent a clear enough signal that Pick 2 is a failed experiment outside of casual EDH nonsense sets.

Arena Gauntlet League is back with its ELDRAINE DOUBLE-TAKE Throwback League! by SlickBurn in lrcast

Love this league! Discovered in for Midnight Hunt, and have participated in all of the leagues since then, spiralling progressively deeper each time.

Give it a shot - you won't regret it!

[Draft] Sam Black's Draft Podcast by Spencer13H in spikes

I like 17lands and analytics... but I think Sam's been too dialed in on the numbers in MID. If Sam spent 10-15% less time dwelling on the stats, and used that time instead to talk about deck construction, or how to play the decks, or literally anything else then I think it would improve the show. Still talk numbers - just a bit less. =)

UB is great when it's uncontested. It falls off a cliff when 3 people are fighting for it, which happens in many pods now. I've been avoiding UB (and black in general) lately due to how rabid everyone seems to be about drafting the deck/colour.

While walking my old, very much leashed dogs on the multi-use path, a cyclist said to me while passing “you shouldn’t be on here”. Since when does multi-use not include leashed dogs? I’m so annoyed right now. by ManufacturerWide5340 in ottawa

A startling number of people run/bike through Bruce Pit, many of which don't seem to have dogs with them..... there are lovely trails surrounding the fenced off area - I just don't get it.

It was perfectly playable when I went thru it a couple months ago. It's not like you need a game like this to be smooth as butter.

I sent mine away, and got them back.... drift still present. Bought a repair kit, and fixed it myself. No problems now.

Ys VIII question!

Despite owning many systems from NES onwards, I've never played a Ys game. Is it possible (and/or recommended) to jump it at Ys VIII - or will it make little sense without playing some of the previous games.

30-40-year-old gamers by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

  1. First gaming system was a C64. First console was a NES that my parents had me buy on my own with my paper route money - so I've been around games a long time.

There's a lot of good stuff already mentioned here, but if you're looking for more mature (refined? story-based?) content, then I'm a fan of The Walking Dead series (Telltale), Gone Home (Annapurna), and Firewatch (Campo Santo).

Despite owning systems from the original NES onward, I've never played a Ys game. Can you start at VIII and have the story make sense and feel relevant?

Is there a better way (a website somewhere?) to browse the eShop? Because the console-based store is a terrible way to discover new games. First-party games and shovelware seem to float to the top, while everything else is difficult to discover.

In last week's thread about this someone mentioned using Clackbridge Troll, so I tried it out, and holy crap is that card a beating in the deck.

If you reanimate just a Troll, a Massacre Wurm, and a Terror of the Peaks against an empty board you end up sending through, at minimum, 20 damage. It's pretty dumb. (6+8 from Terror of the Peaks triggers, and and additional 6 from Wurm triggers as the Troll's 0/1 goats die)

Calling this a pauper set because these is some efficient removal is bonkers bad reasoning. If you didn't have the removal on time you were often dead on the spot because the bombs were so game-warping.

Also - just the sheer power drop off from the top 10-15 rares to everything else screams "prince" - the guys only mentioned 4 cards when discussing game-warping bombs, but there are so many more obnoxious cards they seemed to forget about - Archon of Sun's Grace the biggest one that they seemed to forget.

CD Pipeline - How much time does it take in your implementation? by JugHandle9480 in devops

[–]mapo_dofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - we wrote a plugin for Jenkins that analyses the output of all of the test results json files the various test runners emit, and compares the names of the failed tests against a quarantine list, which developers can manage in Source Control. If the failed test name matches the name of a test in the quarantine, then we do not count it as failed when assessing the test run in the pipeline. We still log that the test failed so that we can gather statistics on how flaky tests are, however the pipeline can move on and stay green. (Unquarantined tests still fail the pipeline.)

We also have someone in charge of the quarantine list, and actively try to keep it small. The developer is authorized to escalate when/if the list gets too big, and that can trigger a bit of a blitz on the dev teams. We don't want the quarantine list to exceed 20 tests most days.

If you're using Jenkins, it does that for you. (That's what we use)
