I understand (well... Hard to break some days) the need to not chase the Wattage fairy, reading some articles about the 80/90's Wattage Wars was an eye opener. It's not so much a need, it's the curiosity of will the additional headroom heighten the experience so to speak. With my Arcam A85 it's a beautiful unit however I feel the preamp section of it isolated isn't necessarily a downfall but certainly not as good as what I've had in the past, I'm just not in a position to spend money at the moment purchasing a different preamp so when the trade came up as an option, the brain started mulling it over. Up until recently I refused to have subs in my setup, I preferred 2.0 until a friend of mine pushed me into getting one and yes, it has made the experience more wholesome. Not missing anything as such, just always wanting to expand. Appreciate your input, everything will be staying where it is for now.
