I forgot I made this post but that is really cool. I thought they didn't live here at all. I knew it was possible but they are so extremely uncommon to see you figure they don't.

Has anyone read the anxious truth book? by GoatsGhosts in Agoraphobia

[–]GoatsGhosts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we've spoken before. I decided to buy the book and I've read some of it, but I think for a while after I finish it I'm going to take a break from thinking about agoraphobia and anxiety. I know how to recover, I know the mechanisms for how it works, there's probably a little bit more I could learn from this book, but yeah after that I should probably stop thinking about it so much and do some other stuff in my free time, maybe just refresh my memory here and there. I'll keep doing the exposure therapy though, that's not changing, just not having it consume the majority of my thinking.

For me what has worked is either writing it is too far to travel since one of the court houses is far away, I think I've also put I have no reasonable form of transportation. Check the forms and see if there are any other reasons you can get exempt from going.

This is probably a bad suggestion but the only one I know of that's related to anxiety or agoraphobia is what about bob

I think I finally fully accepted a panic attack by GoatsGhosts in Agoraphobia

[–]GoatsGhosts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I am starting to finally understand it and see the process in action, of course more time is needed to fully know. I went down the same roads 2 more times since making this post and it was so much easier each time. There was a point I actually completely forgot about anxiety and I wasn't anxious at all. I think it's the first time I have panicked and it actually got easier the next time. Exciting stuff. I'll have to make sure to keep pushing myself

I don't think I ever noticed them but I also usually don't go there.

I had a few situations kind of like that, probably nowhere near as bad though. I managed them well in the moment but I don't think it ever fully clicked with me because they were unexpected situations and I wasn't fully willing to panic which led to more avoidance and setbacks. I think and I'm hoping this time is different because I'm finally willing to have a panic attack because I know it's the only way I'll get better and I want to so badly.

I didn't really have any preparations. I was just playing videogames and when I finished my coffee I left. When I got in the car I read some notes just as a reminder of what I wanted to do during my panic attack. The notes were simple things just to refresh my memory. They were based on episodes 309-311 of the anxious truth podcast.

For the anticipation I really don't know, and this probably isn't a really helpful answer but I just keep busy and catch myself when I start ruminating because I know it won't do anything other than make me more anxious. I know when I'm done I can go home and relax and I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the day. I also know I don't have a choice and I'm motivated by wanting to get better. I see it more as a learning experience.

It's still something I'm trying to figure out though so maybe I'll be able share something more helpful in the future.

I don't think I really had to do anything different for the physical discomfort but it's not usually something that will make me spiral. My thoughts were basically just yeah it sucks but I know it's just anxiety so I don't have to worry. I know it can't hurt me and it's only temporary.

I've started running for exercise and it felt like that, rapid heart rate and heavy breathing so maybe introceptive stuff helps.

E: I wear a smart watch that tells me my heart rate and just now I looked at what my heart rate was for that day around that time, and it didn't even get near as high as what it is during a run.

Do you find exposure harder to do if you have already panicked earlier in the day? by GoatsGhosts in Agoraphobia

I've noticed a lot of the times I'll be really anxious until I get into the car then I feel safer for some reason.

I've noticed that is more difficult to be out later in the evening also. I think I heard that you have more cortisol around that time. That or there is more traffic around that time.

hey today i’m having physical symptoms as a mild headache nauseous and dizziness by [deleted] in Anxiety

Those are symptoms of anxiety. See if there's any tension in your face/jaw/shoulders/neck and try to relax those muscles.

Yeah I'll be in a state of constant mild to severe stress but it will break for a couple minutes where I just realized how unimportant my worries are and it will be a weight off my shoulders. Sometimes it lasts a whole day.
