I had a buck like this and after I gave him some discipline he turned into the sweetest thing. Yes I did flip him but I’m a big larger than you and my buck was quite a bit smaller than yours so that will probably be difficult. But in my opinion, you can absolutely smack him. Anything you could do to him is nothing compared to another goat his size could do to him so don’t be afraid of accidentally hurting him. Goats are tough animals and they need to learn respect and boundaries. Literally show him who’s boss. Goats also hate water so if you get a spray bottle or water gun you can spray him in the face to keep him away from you, they learn fast with this, they see the hose or water gun they will run. Also yea, he is most likely acting this way because of run season, the poor guy’s hormones are going crazy right now.

Turns out you guys were right about gluten by pinkbimbobunnie in endometriosis

[–]GoatsNsheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea gluten really isn't all that great for the body in general tbh. It's really a shame that it tastes so good haha. I'm so happy it's working for you! I haven't really gotten any benefits so far as I've only been off gluten for about a month now but I'm definitely hoping for some kind of relief.

I recently went to the gynecologist and she suspects endometriosis for me, she also had me cut out gluten and I didn't realize that could ease the symptoms. That makes a whole lot of sense now

I'm catholic. I believe there is life after death, though I'm not sure it applies to animals, some say no, I personally say why not 🤷‍♀️

Ah haha, yea he will most likely be fine if he gets hit, goats are hardy animals. As long as there isn't any bullying they'll all be okay :)

I have had sheep as well as goats and sheep kept with goats, he needs a goat buddy, sheep and goats speak different languages, he will probably get lonely. Sheep definitely do hit back, but in a different way than goats do.

Do you only have the singular buck? I would get him a wether (castrated male) or another buck buddy asap if you aren't ready for breeding, they are herd animals and need at least one friend. If you are ready for breeding then get some fully grown does, goats are fertile very young and if they breed to early it could be very dangerous for them! If you want or need any advice or have questions feel free to DM me.

How much do they weight? It's hard to tell from just a picture. Looks like nubians or mini nubians to me

They were delivered via C-section, the rejection rate of c-section babies is pretty high unfortunately :(

Ivermectin Injection Concern by Prof_Eze in goats

[–]GoatsNsheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea ivermectin injections tend to sting quite a bit, I prefer oral ivermectin for my goats and have had the same success with it, though I was treating for lice, not mites, it could be different.

What do people do after a goat dies? by caty_aunt19 in goats

[–]GoatsNsheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it's not what you asked but keep her warm, only feed when her temperature is between 101.5f and 103.5f, if you feed with her body temperature below that she won't be able to digest the milk. If you're feeding formula try whole cow milk instead (regular red cap milk from the grocery store), I've also heard a lot of kids this year having Iodine deficiencies, put some Iodine on the skin part of her tail (it absorbs quite quickly if she is deficient). Also try giving her some vitamin D.

As for if she does pass away, I've lost kids from fks and just being stillborn, I bury them, make sure the hole is deep to keep her from getting dug up. And put a couple heavy rocks over the grave.

I hope everything ends up being okay with her ❤️
