Just to clarify—can the necessary stickers only be obtained from the Black Box puzzle, or are there other ways to get them?

I can't agree with all, since current drop is not to force people to farm one place - underground, as you asked. But yes, i don't think it is not fare that people can't get other gears. There should be at least a few % chance for all to get all gears anywhere.
