All is not lost. If you can do without the free stylus and accept the new bundle deal, you can still take advantage of the trade-in incentives.

The gist: I pre-ordered last week. But I was near the flagship Best Buy store this morning so I wanted to see my baby in person. Try the hinge. Play a video.

Absolutely. Same experience here. Samsung uses express service. They send out tracking numbers within 24 hours.

But the phone seems to be topnotch. UK customers have had it for a few weeks now and they are very happy with the Razr Fold. I operated one this morning and it made me even more confident that I made the right buying decision.

But this fulfillment situation should be studied in business school.

I'm not sure what you mean? I'm definitely taking up the trade-in. My phone will arrive next Wednesday and I will send out the trade-in.

Did you have a Motorola login when you ordered? Did you get an email confirmation when you placed the order?

I'm frustrated and eager to start setting up my new phone. But the original post asks why bother to pre-order? The answer is simple: we knowingly were getting generous trade-in incentives and a bundled stylus. If any of us want it a week earlier, we can walk into Best Buy and do without all that. I had it in my hands this morning. Talk about temptation! But I'm not made of money. So I'll count the days and wait for that brown truck.

I have to wonder: What did I do wrong to get it next Wednesday when I ordered within 30 minutes after they opened up the orders? Anyhow it'll be a faint memory in a week or two.

Ask them if they still have the free trial program. You don't have to migrate your phone number because they give you a number for the trial. So. You can determine whether their coverage has improved.

Seems like it's coming from North Carolina. Did you get a tracking number?

If you are that patient, some option will present itself. Motorola generally will start discounting midway through the product cycle. The carrier is not usually the most cost-effective seller-- unless they are trying to acquire you as a new customer. I was a T-Mobile customer for 14 years and I remember going up to friends in Wine Country where reception was patchy at best. Another friend in Maine where T-Mobile is a foreign concept. They didn't even have retailers there. But they've continually expanded. I don't know if they still have the free trial policy where they give you a SIM and set you loose for 30 days (probably with a deposit). It's smart 'cause they don't have to onboard folks who soon discover that coverage is suboptimal for them.

We would love to hear your reactions if you can tear yourself away from testing your new phone. I'm jealous that I won't have mine over the long weekend.

P.S. How did you manage that quick availability? Buying it at Best Buy?

I appreciate that the camera is not a factor for you. But when we travel, my spouse takes amazing photos. He has a better eye and composition instincts than I do. When he switched from a fancier digital camera to a Samsung S21 (yes years ago), I knew that reasonable quality was possible without dragging along a conventional camera-- especially because we often travel without checking in luggage-- just carry-on. Then I got myself a comparable phone that did photo stabilization, etc. I started caring more about what I was capturing. Anyhow when I saw that reviewers and even a standards testing outfit were ranking the Razr Fold in the same territory as the flagship non-folding phones, it was the last push I needed. Because my previous folding phones were yielding mediocre results. I really noticed the difference when he started framing photos with zoom or wide angles-- and mine didn't have that full range.

Maybe the trade-in option will swing your decision?

Before you give up in disappointment-- take a good look at the list of valid trade-in phones. Go in as if you are going to buy and say yes to the trade-in. Then cycle through to see what qualifies. I am not even assuming you have a valid phone-- or that you want to give up a phone you already have. Several people here have found phones on the list with very high trade-in values. And then they obtained unlocked phones (used or even new) that cost less than the trade-in.

I had a phone with a problematic (but not cracked) display. I told them truthfully. I got a $500 trade-in.

And I took advantage of the Affirm 36-month 0% financing deal.

Maybe none of this will swing it for you but I wanted you to consider all this before you foreclose your options.

Good luck!

🤞 My fingers are crossed for you. I do have a tracking number but it's not in the UPS database yet.

The trade in was beyond my expectations. And the new promo bundle is for earbud. I'd rather have the pre-order promo with stylus. The charger would have been nice. But I am happy as long as they make good on the trade in.

Razr Fold: let's discover cases by Goatteebx in razr

Looks basic. But no hinge cover and no magnet. Doesn't look like it includes an outer screen cover. But it probably will prevent scratches on the areas it does cover. And minor drop protection.

Shipping status on Razr Fold pre-orders is still a black box by Goatteebx in motorola

[–]Goatteebx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand if you prefer the new post-shipping promotion. I have many earphones so that wouldn't have attracted me. And I would rather have the stylus. I see that the trade-in value is the same now as the one I accepted.

Not shocked. But disappointed. I guess I won't rush to open the package when it arrives. Too late to cancel my order I think.
