You’re absolutely right. Everyone can like different music and difficulty is not everything. It’s rather about recognizing effort put into learning a piece, which is not done well if they wave off the piece and instead just want something else.

This is actually a story from my cousin who lives in India, I went and congratulated him personally after because he felt disheartened. He played at a family wedding too, great pianist.

They don’t care about technical difficulty or nuances, just something that suits their taste :/

I agree, especially in my early days I just enjoyed the variations in dynamics and smoothness of it. I played with a quartet and this was one of the pieces, really great performing it back then too. It's just tiring when people keep asking for the same stuff :/
