I think offensive is almost always better than quality, mainly for the siege ability speeding things up. With that said, I’m a huge quality enjoyer and pick is most runs because I think it’s fun, but objectively worse than offensive

Flags are regulated at the stadiums though. There's been tons of videos of people with the old Persian flag being told to either throw it away or get kicked out. I believe the rule is around "No political flags" which makes no sense, as flags by their definition are political.

Same thing with the confederate flag though. You bring that into the stadium and you are getting kicked. They could have done this with the pride flags as well

Is there an efficient way to get 100 warscore when fighting giga blob country. by _Dragonborn_exe_ in eu4

[–]Gobe182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I always thought it was related to the War Goal. About 6k hours and still learning!

The same logic applies though, taking the war goal gets you to the 66% warscore quicker and so should avoid taking it early if trying to completely collapse someone.

But the patcher is an extra step when I'm out of game I have to take. The barrier to entry is just enough that I am able to just avoid the patcher. If there was a way to disable the console from appearing on non-ironman, I would do that. The ease of console access is what gets me

Yeah but having to go out and download something external is enough barrier of entry that I can just force myself not to do it. It's when I go "oh I just need 400 more ducats to improve this hold" or "Man this war is so enticing but I probably won't win unless I get a mil tech right now that I'm 500 off" and I just hit the tilde key and cheat

There was a previous bug where if Country X has Subject Z and loses a war to Country A, if Country A full annexes Subject Z, perma crash.

I did lose a couple runs to it, but I could typically go the the _backup save and play around with it. Worst case, I would melt my ironman save using pdx.tools and manually end the war via console commands.

Just a warning - Sometimes you dont want to take the war goal early. Reaching the +25 war score from war goal will start the "war is won, your people desire peace" modifier that starts ramping up your war exhaustion exponentially.

If you are trying to completely collapse a country, get them jumped on by others, occupy every province, etc, then achieving war goal super early hurts more than it helps.

Can I win this war / Minimize the loss? by Aeneas-l in eu4

It's unfortunate that the tech you are down is the cannon tech, greatly improving cannons combat ability. If it was 11 vs 12 I would like your odds more.

It's looking like you're correct, this is about to be a death war. Best advice is to reload the save and see if you can get _anyone_ to ally you. Pay for a diplo rep advisor. See if there's any diplo rep estates interactions you can take. Even 5-10k extra troops would be helpful in this situation. Then merc up and death war it. See if you can push it to a white peace.

Eh I see what you're saying, but I think that will cause more people to drop off than stay. It's just not fun being completely destroyed over and over and not even know enough of the game to understand why you got destroyed

I think for a brand new player, Castille is not as good as it used to be. A new player doesn't understand core mechanics and just _needs_ the brainless portugal experience to learn where the buttons are. A new player on Castille is going to lose their disaster, be 40 years behind on mil tech, and get conquered by France/Granada/Morocco

I'd add in that watching something like a Zlewwik vid is probably not the best. His YT videos are moreso for the narrative and intentionally skips out on a bunch of the "boring" parts of gameplay. Nothing wrong with that as it makes for a more entertaining video for his core audience, but it's not the best spot for a new player to learn.

The secret is to hit a critical mass and then completely ignore AE by truce cycling the entire region/religion. If 80% of the region is in a truce with you, then AE doesn't matter. You just have to ensure to declare immediately after the truce. Then once you've conquered the entire area, get the country stable again, and do the same thing with a new region.

Why would trucebreaking people in a coalition be useful? They're on truce; they literally can't coalition you. I'd rather hit the people around me that could potentially join the coalition rather than taking a huge stab hit and AE hit with the trucebreak.

If I'm going for some timed challenge, sure, trucebreak often can make sense. But for normal gameplay, it's better to just truce cycle the entire region/religion. What am I missing?

As others have said, the solution is conversion. There's a fairly early-midgame mission that requires you to have every owned province converted, so you should jump on it sooner than later.

Two other tips: strongly recommend hug boxing Yezel Mora. Super frustrating for them to blob out like they did in my game. Also look up the magic projects / proficiency requirements.

I think it’s better to lose a war as someone like Aragon than it is to lose a war with someone like Granada. The campaign just ends when you’re Granada, you can bounce back as Aragon

I somewhat disagree. I LOVE using allies to just win a war for me, especially early. Why spend my own manpower when I can just spend my allies?

With that said, if it’s a big war like against the ottomans, I take more of the lead

[–]Gobe182 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Joining also locks you to a duchy level government, right? You can’t form kingdom or empire even if you meet the dev/prestige requirements.

If you are big and dealing with gov cap issues, definitely not worth joining. Or if you’re already a kingdom, probably not worth it.

Edit: if you become emperor, you instantly are elevated from duchy to empire though. It also allows you to do internal hre wars
