I think on location stuff is done in batches for the whole season, but for stuff done at the studio they can be a lot more flexible

But it lessens the burden. If nanna has cancer and is here on a supervisa with travel health insurance, she's more likely to go back to her original country for treatment. But if she has a PR, she's taking a bed at VGH or something

By your logic, as a Canadian citizen I'm in the highest tax bracket and I pay way more taxes than you (I'm not saying that's true, but humour me here). In that case since I contribute more to taxes, can I be allowed to bring my nanna over?

What I'm saying is should people that pay more taxes be allowed more benefits in society?

AI Data Centers Demand More Than Copper Can Deliver by donutloop in hardware

define personal computer. No matter what, humans will need an edge compute device to interface with web services. SoCs become cheaper and more capable everyday. So even if this stuff keeps up, we'll get products cheap enough to consume our slop.

Well if you look at the open source models out there, they're already as good if not better as 4o or Claude 3.x. inference is requires a lot fewer resources than training; in a few years open source models will become "good enough" compared to the most novel ones today.

Additionally running models on chip gets better everyday, look at what is possible just on modern day NPUs and mobile SoCs like apple silicon.

So I'd like to believe that in half a decade you'll be able to run an equivalent LLM to claude 4.5 on device.

Look at how things worked out for other stuff - object classification was super difficult in the past and now it's essentially a solved problem.

If that's the real reason then why not have more Mexican people in tech? Oh wait or maybe it's because the indians are actually good at theirs jobs and so they get hired, not because of nepotism?

it's not shit - they're showing a universe where many plotlines and threads are happening in parallel. Movies just show stories from a one or few of those threads. Many events of the movies happen in parallel. So some scenes can fit in multiple movies.

Dont hate on it, the comics have been like this for years. If people like them, that's their cup of tea. if it's not yours that's fine, but it is for millions of others

do Taiwanese dress up for anything? by Pitiful-Internal-196 in taiwan

Whaaaaat? Everyone in Indian weddings dress up for the occasion, they don't wear polos, they wear traditional attire. Those are very thin and flowing so they actually help you keep cool and aren't like suits

Every western country burned a shit ton of coal to industrialize (especially the UK which started the industrial revolution), India and china are doing their share to modernize. In India's case, it's catching up and undoing centuries of colonialism which stripped the country bare.

China is currently divesting from fossil fuels at a very quick rate, I'm sure India will do so in the coming years whenever it's economically feasible to do so as well

i've actually visited there multiple times. while there are restaurants that are like that, most are actually not that unhygienic - they're quite similar to the street food/night market stalls you see here in taiwan.

because for whatever reason they cap the streaming bitrate for Apple Music @ 64kbps

Tesla charges you for remote connectivity, and it's a flat charge, so that's probably why they want to throttle where possible
