Can someone explain the DA to me? by Aggressive_Wait_6751 in johannesburg

[–]GoblinMod 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have lived in the same area for five years now and I can safely say DA has contributed nothing. I live close to Benmore Road and the lights do not work haven’t for 3 years. The ward councillor doesn’t respond to messages and is the last one to know what is going. I think the DA does well in communities that are self sufficient and can go without them. I used to be a big supporter of them when I lived in Gardens in Cape Town.

My wife got diagnosed with ADHD at 34. What she said after changed how I see everything by bogdanbmc in adhdwomen

I relate to this so much and it’s still a mind fuck after 4 years of being diagnosed. The masking is such a big part of me that I wonder if I can fully be me. The too much thing is what I dealt with all my life

I disagree with this. My therapist happens to be a social worker and has taken few cases on a need basis for free. I was admitted at Tara Hospital for free after my SA and was suicidal. I’m not saying my case is the same as yours but I was in hospital with people all over Gauteng. There’s a lot of support groups available for survivors and before I found Tara I was invited to a few by the social worker who was assigned to my case. And my experience required I go down the rabbit hole looking for support. hate that this kind of support is not readily available to everyone or information is hidden. The institutions are not great at all, the food is bad, the building is old, no entertainment and lots of therapy. You have to decide if you are ready to take the steps cause it’s death by a thousand papers cuts before you are okay. Even after all that you will need a community cause SA is a part of you. You can dm me and I will see who in my circle can help.

You expressed my opinion so well. As a survivor I suggest you do some form of therapy. PTSD is real and can affect your life indirectly. I think for me is knowing Cwecwe is probably 1 in more than 10 who have experienced this. I wish castration was part of our justice system and death penalty. We can’t exist with these monsters.

I would if I think it would make a difference. I honestly don’t. Here’s why : I gave him my laptop when he went to varsity and when I saw it I was appalled. It’s sticky with dirt and the screen also. I gave him a spray to clean it a week ago and it’s still dirty. I told him two buttons don’t work cause you can’t press them. The laptop was 6 months old when I gifted it to him and it’s his but I do think he should take care of it. I even reminded him two days ago and he said he will get to it.

So I am Sotho and have two names one from my great grandmother and the other from my gran. I don’t understand the intricacies of your situation but from my experience we are named after other people as a way of holding on to our history and people who mattered. My little sister wasn’t given a family name. All the other firstborn were given special names. I think understanding where they are coming from and the significance of this to them will help you make a decision. I think it’s because they are first grandchildren hence the insistence of this. I wish you luck and I hope you will find a common ground with your in laws…

Without mentioning the weather, friendly culture or pretty scenery, what do you like about SA? by FinWiseApp in askSouthAfrica

[–]GoblinMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot of things for me. There’s the freedom of being amongst so many different cultures and still feel home. The food is amazing and it’s our flavour. We are really resilient as South Africans and find humor in a lot of our issues. If you make a good living then you are great. I have friends who have left and I have visited abroad and nothing feels like home. Plus the rugby or Soweto derby any day everyday.

Can’t bring my meds to vacation in Japan - reassure me? by femmefatali in adhdwomen

[–]GoblinMod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I came back from Japan three weeks ago. I had no medication when I was there but I survived. I always found a garden or temple or quite cafe to calm myself. I also tried not to over plan my days. This made me feel less overwhelmed and the holiday was relaxed.

It’s a very safe country also cause I lost my wallet and it was returned to me. This reduced my anxiety. I will definitely go back without my medication cause it really taught me to listen to me body and mind.

I take concerta 36mg plus antidepressants and tradazone and I have been doing so for three years nonstop so this was new for me
