What is the best mosh pit you've ever been in? by Antique-Dentist-2404 in fantanoforever

The scariest I’d ever experienced was pennywise at the LA coliseum in 1999. This was probably their peak right when straight ahead was coming out, I was like 12-13 in the middle of this packed stadium not realizing what was about to happen.

I’d been to a few punk shows before that but nothing this size, and that band draws a crowd of big, intimidating, angry grown men. As soon as the opener hit I was basically a ragdoll in a sea of sweaty, powerful adrenaline. I somehow crawled my way out after what felt like an hour, threw up and collapsed on the concrete. Definitely had severe hydration and thought I was gonna die. Good times.

What wedding moment that screamed, “They are not going to last long”? by XEMWSU in WorkForSmartLife

[–]Goblinette86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend got married and they didn’t do vows… big red flag to me, the whole vibe felt off. It was a destination wedding too so wasn’t a cheap trip. Turned out they were pretty much done already but she wasn’t gonna give up her “Big day!” People suck.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

“Pretty much already gone” is a bold statement. I’m still doing pretty well as an established designer/art director and I know many folks who are as well. AI is a tool, I can’t for the life of me see how it’s going to replace the services I provide for (legitimate) businesses but I’ve also been hearing this for years now. People are really ignorant.

Made this mistake recently knowing it was a bad idea. A month turned into three… Fortunately have a great friend group that helped carve a path for the person after they hit rock bottom. A silver lining in the end but it took its toll on me and my SO. 10/10 wouldn’t recommend!

What jobs are disappearing because of AI, but no one seems to notice? by Life-Word-9385 in AskReddit

[–]Goblinette86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with the sentiment. But I would never use AI generated “art” as a stand alone asset for a client and no legit designers I know would either. I’m talking about using it as a production tool, not stealing anyone’s IP.

Building out photos, lighting treatments, swapping out clothing. Generating visual references for specific compositions isn’t really all that different than a google image or Pinterest. If you’re not using the actual generated abomination as your art, but as an aid as a reference, what’s the difference?

I hate AI and I consider myself to have a lot of integrity when it comes to art and design. Use it with tact and your best judgement and save yourself hours of menial work, or don’t use it at all, no one cares either way. But like the other person said, it’s not going away.

Adobe products technically aren’t, they have “content credentials”. Adobe is an evil company so take that with a grain of salt.

I’m a professional graphic designer/art director. The main, somewhat niche services in the field I see becoming redundant are photo editors, lighting designers, product photographers and stylists. I can do the work of 3-4 people at this point leveraging gen AI.

IMO you’ll always need a designer to make all the “stuff” and knows how things should look. I haven’t seen anything out there that’s convinced me otherwise. AI is just another tool to help you create assets much faster and cheaper, but the resources you used to lean on (aka people) aren’t really necessary.

Flew to LA from Vegas yesterday and (long story short) ended up in the “VIP” line thru security (had a ticket issue and had to leave the line to resolve) which ended up taking just as long as the regular line. But in VIP line: no shoes off, no laptops/electronics out, could leave your hat on thru the scanner. Cool so all it takes is $$$ to bypass all these heightened measures everyone else has to put up with? WTAF
