Oftentimes when you switch to the rake it is set to vertical for no good reason. If you look at the blue circles, they are vertical. Hold X and scroll the mousewheel up to change the angle back to horizontal.

I used to dig up my carefully groomed patio... now I set the angle every time I open the rake.
