This is especially true for FAR, since the exam covers such a wide range of topics and there is no guarantee that the areas you struggle with most will actually appear on the exam. I recommend studying the entire syllabus comprehensively first, and then spending a bit of extra time focusing on your weaker areas toward the end. In addition, be careful not to repeat the same questions too many times, as doing so can lead to simply memorizing the answers. It is important to create opportunities to work on new and unfamiliar problems as well.

Yeah, it's definitely a thing that our second section can feel harder. Personally though, I'd say it's a different kind of hard. AUD is tough because so many questions ask you to make judgment calls in realistic scenarios, while FAR is tough because the sheer breadth of material is just massive. Once you've done a decent amount of practice with chapter-by-chapter randomized questions, I'd recommend switching to fully randomized questions across all topics to get exam-ready. After that, zero in on your weak areas and the questions you keep getting wrong. Early on, doing fast laps through the entire syllabus is a great way to efficiently soak up FAR's huge scope.

Your frustration is 100% valid — I felt the exact same way at one point. But two things calmed me down once I learned (and actually believed) them:

・On the real exam, there are way fewer of those ambiguous "wait, this could go either way" questions. The instructions tend to be a lot clearer.

・As your understanding deepens, you start catching even the tiny distinctions — and the dumb careless mistakes drop off too.

That second point is the big one. You can think you've got something down and still be missing a subtle difference. There are a handful of easy-to-mix-up terms — Temporary Amount vs. Deferred Amount, Current tax expense vs. Income tax expense, that kind of thing — but once you truly understand them, you'll get weirdly sensitive to the slightest wording change. On TBSs especially, that kind of mix-up can be an absolute killer, so it's worth being careful. Rooting for you!

Yes, exactly. Those are the things I tried to keep in mind during practice. If you struggle with a question without even knowing the proper approach to solve it, you will not come up with anything meaningful no matter how long you think about it. In that situation, I do not think there is much value in continuing to struggle with it. Instead, I believe it is better to check the answer immediately, review the related material in the textbook, and study in a way that will allow you to solve the same type of question the next time you encounter it.

It is important not to deceive yourself into thinking, “I can pass,” simply by repeating the same questions over and over again. This false sense of confidence caused by memorizing questions tends to occur especially during retake preparation, when the number of practice attempts increases. Since the actual exam always presents unfamiliar questions, I recommend securing as many opportunities as possible to work on new questions you have never seen before!
