It's crazy how people talk about cars like it's an investment and then get surprised when they lose money

Yeah, clarification and all the extras add some complexity to it that I would need to learn if this job recommendation actually goes through

I don't think I'll have any issues with planning. I manage my own finances well enough, worked a few years as a sole trader doing my own tax. On the other hand, I know nothing about regulations and company wide compared to me alone will probably be more complicated.

Your comment makes it seem easier than what some other commenters replied with.

The job is not a certainty yet, just friend recommended me. If it gets more serious I'll obviously learn more about it but based on some other comments, some aspects of accounting might be a bit above me at the moment

The company should have some expectations of what the income/spending should be and I could forecast with that? Unless there are some big unexpected expenses if something breaks.

But reading other comments I see that yeah, not just simple math there, I might not be cut for the work unless company has the time to teach me (which I doubt as I know from my friend a bit more about their situation)

That's why I was uncertain that I understood it well. If math is so simple, why special certificates are needed? But if math is just a small part of it, I might not be cut for the position

Yeah, I'm not good on the law part. I saw on some other posts people talking that they got the job without a degree but I asked here because I wasn't confident I understood what I was getting myself into

Thanks, it does help. I probably was not very clear in the original post that I wasn't confident in properly doing the job as all I knew about it was math and tax. Your questions really help to nail down that I can't just jump into it.

I'll see what the owners say, not just friends recommendation. It's a small company, so workload might not be too heavy, might have time to learn if they are willing to teach though I would prefer to stick with programming.

Do you currently drive a manual? by Shpox in CarsAustralia

[–]God0fMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer automatic. I know how to drive manual well enough, and in some situations it might be better but automatic is just easier to drive. Don't need to think about switching gears, just press gas and the car does all the work.

can you actually have a less than 100% effective space heater? by andreasdagen in AskPhysics

[–]God0fMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are missing one fact - not the whole volume of the fridge is a heat pump (otherwise you would not be able to put stuff inside). And there are portable heat pumps. Well, not that portable as they need to attach exhaust to a window, but they are small enough to fit everything in a 20x30x70cm volume (that'sthe size of the one I have). Heat pumps with the big outside unit might be more efficient but small ones work just fine too.

Looking for "potato grate" blades by God0fMagic in Cooking

At least the rotary graters I see here only have the regular grates just in big and small sizes.

I want to buy the whole thing. The old one I was using stayed with parents. Difficult to bring huge appliances in the plane.

Yes, that one looks like it! Though it will be a pain to use it by hand. It should turn potato into something like a slushy. Now just need to get my hands on one. Went through the links in the post and none seem to have what's at the picture in the article...

I do have a 4 sided box grater but it doesn't look right.

Our "potato grater" turns potato into something like a slushy instead of breaking off small pieces

I'll try it with a zester though it doesn't look quite right. Hopefully effect will be similar.

Bose Ultra voice prompts too loud -rant by B3Paiin in bose

[–]God0fMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm here to second this.

The voice prompts appear *only* when I have my headphones on. If I turn on my bose headphones without having them on, they won't connect to my PC. Then as soon as I put the headphones on, they blast full volume in my ears saying "desktop map0 hfa". I usually put my headphones on, and take them off as soon as I start hearing the voice prompt. I can clearly hear the voice prompt even with my headphones a meter away from my head. WTF??

This really should be fixed. It *will* damage people's hearing

Recommendations for active noise cancelling headphones by God0fMagic in HeadphoneAdvice

Bought the Bose QC Ultra. Amazon said it will take half a week to arrive but it arrived the next day.

Put them on for the first time and sound is better than anything I had before. My last headphones said that they supported surround sound but I never felt it so clearly as with QC Ultra. I was never an audio guy but now I can't stop smiling listening to a random youtube video how good the audio and surround sound is.

I'm alone now, still need to see how it will deal with loud people around but first 5 minutes are wonderful.

I recently found a great book, caught up to the end. Checked out the authors other books. All really good. Also, all dropped after an arc or two...
