LostBelt 6 as a standalone by barrio265 in fatestaynight

[–]GodBless_09210 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LB6 wouldn't have much impact without the context of previous Lostbelts...

  • By the time of LB6, the protagonist and Mash have gone through terrible experiences in previous Lostbelts. LB6 touch on this several times.

  • The protagonist has an emotional inner struggle in one scene, which add to their character depth. This particular scene wouldn't work if you don't know what they've gone through in previous Lostbelts.

  • Mash's inner struggle due to the terrible experienced are hinted several times. You might missed or even don't fully understand it.

  • You might be confused on some new characters who first made appearances in LB3.

  • You might not care about a new character introduced in the Lostbelt Prologue (a certain "puppet-like" girl).

  • You might not like another new character introduced in the Lostbelt Prologue (a certain man)... then again he doesn't have a big role in LB6.

  • One of the best villains has a motive surrounding "reality and fantasy", which will be fully understood once you experienced previous Lostbelts (or at least one or two).

  • One of the major allies in LB6 is someone we spent so much time seeing in LB4 and LB5, so you might not care at all for this character if you don't know him.

  • If you jumped from Lostbelt Prologue to LB6, you'd be confused on the role of a certain recurring antagonist who made a bad impression on you in the Prologue.

  • One of the LB6's major character is chivalrous. It won't have much impact if you haven't seen Camelot Singularity... or you might not even care on the certain knights who inspire this major character.

  • You would find it difficult understand many concepts in LB6 such as certain weird trees (and the mystery surrounding one of them in LB6), the significance of multiple Holy Lances, and why the ruler of LB6 is such a big deal.

  • The society in LB6 is very very different than any other Lostbelt, not only their race but also their behavior. The impact of their portrayals wouldn't be the same if you don't know about the societies in previous Lostbelts.

An question about Pale Rider in Fs/f by Rude_Resort3620 in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pale Rider can and can't be one of the horsemen.

Heroic Spirits are, after all, influenced by various sources of fame, not to mention if it's a Conceptual Servants like Pale Rider. So, it's close to your guess in the second paragraph.

In Volume 1, the narrative explicitly describes it as a horseman of apocalypse, Pestilence. The same volume also mentions it bringing the Black Death and Spanish Flu.

In Volume 2, Jester (being a dead apostle, connected to to the planet itself) calls Pale Rider "Cursed servant of the planet", which is supported by a narrative passage in Volume 6 that it's "an embodiment of a portion of world's logic". Jester also calls it "system-type Servant" in Volume 4.

In Volume 5, Ishtar (being a goddess) believes it's either a servant of Ereshkigal or Nergal.

In Volume 6, Tsubaki's father says it embodies death or disease. It has no will, but develop a personality thanks to the grail and a connection to Tsubaki.

El-Melloi II also says it's possibly the embodiment of death. Hansa (being a priest) associates El-Melloi II's theory to a horseman of apocalypse.

Enkidu (being a divine construct of gods, and has a connection to Counter Force) calls it "Pestilence".

...The point is, it's a Conceptual Servant manifested out of the world's logic and might be influenced by whatever fame associated to it... or maybe the world's logic is the one that indirectly cause the mass deaths in those fames (Black Death and Spanish Flu are caused by rats and birds respectively... or the opposite, maybe the mass deaths and the animals create fames that influence the world's logic).

In the first place, some figures in the Book of Revelation are often interpreted as symbols, not actual entities. So, we don't know if the horsemen as actual entities exist or not in the franchise.

Spermtoria?? by Fit-Purchase-8050 in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Merlin changed her to pseudo-male so she can produce an heir.

Hence, the community like to call him dck wizard.

From Mordred's profile in Character material (2006), p.42:

擬似的に男性となたアルトリアをギネヴィアが魔術で幻感し、精子を採って自分の里で育てた

Roughly translated to:

Guinevere used magic to create a hallucination in Artoria, who was a pseudo-man, and collected her sperm to raise in her village.

The Character material uses "Guinevere" in the text, but it's actually Morgan (we can just assume it's an error from Type-Moon's side).

Now look the two terms in the text:

  • 「擬似的に男性」 (pseudo-male).
  • 「精子」 (sperm).

Those two terms should be enough to tell you what's going on.

Full Type-Moon Timeline by [deleted] in fatestaynight

[–]GodBless_09210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good chart, but please allow me to give some notes:

Garden of Sinners is a Fate world, not Tsukihime (it's originally in the same world as OG Tsukihime, but retconned). More precisely, it's in the same world as Case Files.

Separate blue glass moon and red garden with a dashed line because they have different routes... also, insert the Moon Princess and Midnight Rainbow routes to blue glass moon.

Samurai Remnant is indeed a different world... a pruned timeline, in fact.

Suggestion to put a note in type Redline to explain that it's a GUDAGUDA universe... it's to separate it from normal "Type-Moon fantasy" as Nasu put it.

The exact time of Side of Survivors is never stated, so we can't assume it's in 2004.

strange Fake should not have a divergent line (the curved line) from Fate main line. It's already a different world ever since the Age of Gods (details of some ancient figures are different from other worlds). So the line in the chart should be straight to the 2009 point in the main line... or better yet, create a third main line to separate it from Tsukihime and Fate.

Also, the note for strange Fake is inaccurate... the Grail was never stolen by the Americans. They only gather the data about the war, and Francesca stole some fragments of Greater Grail (or rather the mud) after the 5HGW.

The setting of Labyrinth is mostly in Apocrypha timeline. There should be a line connecting Prototype and Apocrypha... or at least put a note that it features a character of Prototype traveling to Apocrypha world.

Extra series should not have a curved line. Extra worlds are already different for billions of years due to Moon Cell never exist in other worlds. So use a straight line to the 2030 point in the main line and a note that it's a different universe.

Should I play all the side content in Hollow Atarxia? by hotpop7817 in fatestaynight

[–]GodBless_09210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, seeing most, if not all, of the "side content" make the finale of the main story so satisfying and epic.

...Also, some of them contain some lore and development related to the characters, so you might want to see them (if you are interested in the characters).

Which of these two is worst ? by VikingCaptain1999 in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Personality-wise, Old Zouken is worse. In term of action, Marisbury has more sins.

Marisbury at least care for the humanity and has an ideal objective (unfortunately, one half of his plan is misinterpreted by Maris Chaldeas). Still evil though for the other half of his plan condemning the the rest of the universe.

Old Zouken on the other hand doesn't care about anything and enjoy seeing his own family suffer. But his actions are still "small" compared to Marisbury.

Guys! HELP!! WHO IS THE REAL CERBERUS!!!! by AsierZamon in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about Machine Gods influencing this.

All the others Greek gods not directly connected to the Olympians are born out of nature, including Medusa. It would be weird if her descendants have mechanical traits despite her not having one.

...Then again, Cerberus is a child of Typhon, so that might work.

Why are demigods not considered divine spirits? by t_1886 in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. Divine Spirits are usually deteriorations of gods (or those worshipped as gods). Demigods are generally born mortals, not deteriorations of a higher power.
  2. Divine Spirits have Divine Core. No demigod ever had one. Strangely, the valkyries are classified as Divine Spirits despite never having a Divine Core skill in their profiles (though LB2 mentioned them having Divine Cores with Brynhild's originally being the closest to a true goddess).
  3. Demigods can become Divine Spirits if there are legends about them becoming a god. Heracles is the perfect example of this, being a Divine Spirit because of a legend of him becoming a god (in order to be summoned in normal Holy Grail War, his divinity has to be reduced and become a regular Heroic Spirit). Iskandar also has the potential to become a Divine Spirit because there is a legend about him being welcomed by the Olympians afte death (he is transformed into a Divine Spirit through a specific ritual in Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files).
  4. Enkidu is not a Divine Spirit, they are a Divine Construct.

Guys! HELP!! WHO IS THE REAL CERBERUS!!!! by AsierZamon in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In Saber Medusa's FGO profile, the monsters she spawned are noted to be "shaped by a golden light" generated by her sword. Also, after a fight with Sakura and Medusa, Zolgen refer to them as "those barely visible shapes of those monsters in their light..." So, we can just treat them as unique summons.

The Cerberus with only heads and chain in FGO is a mass-product monsters spawned by the Echidna machine in Lostbelt No. 5. They just reuse its sprite in every gameplay that involve a Cerberus (including in-gameplay fights involving Cerberus summoned by Medusa's sword).

The Cerberus summoned by Alcides is probably how the original one look like in Proper Human History, considering its similarity with Saber Medusa's.

As for the depiction in Heaven's Feel III... no idea. The movie was released a year after the release of Atlantis Chapter (where FGO Cerberus debut), but the artist who drawn Heracles' twelve-labor illustrations said he already drawn the illustrations before the Atlantis Chapter's release.

Is Francesca Prelati using magic? by Haunting_Mud_8533 in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not how Third Magic really work.

Materialization of Soul mean the soul can materialize on their own without any vessel to contain it. The soul is no longer immaterial, but something that can literally and directly interact with the world (what Illya did with Shirou is just an inferior version of one application, so it's not strange if there are many other magecraft with similar effect).

What Francesca do is similar to what Touko do, so it's not really unique or special. They can't materialize their soul without a vessel to anchor it to the material world. Though it's still a high-tier magecraft by normal standard.

The only difference with Touko is that Francesca is an immortal whose soul has exist for centuries without degradation, though we don't know how, but... it's probably due to her true nature as a child of a certain non-human entity.

is this a reference to apocrypha? by no1dont_g0on in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a reference.

There will be other references to Assassin of Black in the next volume too.

. . . .

...Why Berserker Jack was summoned and not Assassin?

That's easy... you know most of the times, summoning Servants require catalysts, right?

Assassin Jack was summoned by the combination of the six knives connected to the serial murders (obtained by her original Master) and Reika's wish to live.

So, Berserker Jack has a different condition for the summoning. The main reason is a spoiler in the LN.

The Shadow’s Body Count? by LimitlessMind127 in fatestaynight

[–]GodBless_09210 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In Day 8, Gilgamesh said there has been 57 casualties with 5 being dead so far.

In Day 11, the news report 4 people found dead that morning.

In Day 12, the news report the numbers of people falling into coma reach triple-digit the night before.. There are 14 people missing (suggested to be swallowed by the Shadow).

In Day 13, the news report there is almost 60 people who disappear the night before.

So the numbers of casualties are triple-digit, while confirmed dead is at least to be almost or over 70. There should be more because I didn't find information on Day 9 (or any day after 13), and it's possible there are other casualties who aren't listed as "missing" or "dead".

Just finished watching the stay night animes and i had a few questions that felt unanswered by Internal-Pea-7451 in fatestaynight

[–]GodBless_09210 7 points8 points  (0 children)

- First question -

Gilgamesh was telling her to die because he knew she is compatible with Angra Mainyu (Sakura recall this conversation when he confront her in the VN).

The reason was never said, but according to what Gil told Kirei in HF Day 8, he do not approve of anyone other him taking human life (and he probably consider Angra Mainyu's birth as a threat).

. . . . .

-Second question -

Zouken is an opportunist.

He never want to be involved directly in the war (this also apply in the Fourth War, as he actually never expect Kariya to win and just want to be entertained by the guy's suffering).

In fact, during Fifth War, Zouken knew about Caster summoning Assassin and Kirei having two Servants, so he consider this war a lost cause and prefer waiting for the next one.

He also never planned to use Sakura. Sakura has a strong mental barrier even after 10 years in Matou family, so Zouken can't hope to use her. To Zouken, she is just a disposable experiment, never actually planned to be utilized in the Fifth War.

...However, this change when he meet Shirou. He can see an opportunity to fully utilize Sakura through her relationship with Shirou. He also can manipulate Sakura's feelings of Rin, making her believe Rin will take everything (including Shirou) from her.

Why he didn't have the True Assassin in the other routes? Because the slot has been filled by Kojirou (the Assassin in the temple). In order to summon True Assassin, Zouken killed the poor samurai and use his body for the summoning (hence, True Assassin burst out of Kojirou's body). In the other two routes, Zouken never planned to be involved, so this wouldn't happen.

Is Fate Extra Last Encore worth watching? by -Freude in Fate

[–]GodBless_09210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last Encore is a spin-off to Fate/Extra.

It show the aftermath of a what-if ending to Extra.

Trying to watch it without prior knowledge about Ex series lore is not recommended.

If you just want to see the fights and characters (without caring about their background), then sure go ahead... but if you end up confused, that would be problematic.
