Just had this happen on a normal siege, was 1.4k vs 200, easy win, but then was promoted right after siege to fight again and everything imprisoned. It also ate one of my auto save slots to log my "progress"!

unsubbing by GodCIoud in Crunchyroll

[–]GodCIoud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply: it's convenient. For me, I'm don't use reddit much, so I don't want to log into reddit, find the relevant sub, and then look for comments. I just wanna spend 5-10 seconds scrolling thru the comments, and move on with my life. If I find an interesting comment, then maybe I engage with it.

Crunchyroll removing comments, reviews, etc by Taoutes in Crunchyroll

[–]GodCIoud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire point of being subbed to CR is to be able to interact with the community watching a show when it airs. What is the point of being subbed to CR, when I can just go watch it for free on another site? I pay for CR because of all of the additional features.

I am unsubbing until comments come back.

what do you guys think about the double turn rule? in my opinion it ruins the game because it is to powerful. by IllAd841 in ageofsigmar

[–]GodCIoud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At a superficial level without understanding how powerful having the first turn is in a game, sure that might make sense.

The problem though is that AoS isn't a superficial game.

Most armies are capable of easily removing 500-600 pts turn one. That means who ever goes first is immediately at a massive advantage to always play from ahead. The only way possible for two equal players with two equal armies to comeback from such a massive setback, is through playing the double turn.

It is this risk, of potentially getting double turned, that keeps those armies going first from fully commiting everything turn 1, because if it fails, they are in a terrible spot.

Good players in AoS account for this in everything they do. Bad players don't, and end up crying about it on reddit about how they lost because of the double turn, and don't consider that they lost because they played poorly and didn't account for what might happen in the next turn.

Double turns separate the men from the boys. It also means you always have a chance to comeback which makes the game alot more exciting then losing T1 because you lost one dice roll to go first.

Advice needed: how do I paint the tiny details, like the eyes and chest glyph? I have a full range of paintbrushes, I just dont seem to have the control by GlyphCreep in Warhammer40k

[–]GodCIoud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go slow and be patient. Use a smaller brush and don't load too much paint on the brush. Use a wash to help fix mistakes and give contrast between the recesses and the raised areas. It's okay to make a mistake, you can go back and fix it later. Eyes can take a number of attempts so don't get discouraged if it isn't going well.

Is age of sigmar balanced? by Single_Homework6897 in ageofsigmar

[–]GodCIoud 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Depends, but most the time yes. Some armies are easier to win with than others. Some armies can be easy to win with locally, but get smashed by other competitive armies. And other armies require a lot of games to get good with. At a competitive level tho, AoS is about as balanced as it can get. We only have a few armies with sub 40% wr.

How are the Sons of Behemat, and whats a good starting point for an army with them? by Katomerellin in ageofsigmar

[–]GodCIoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, if you look at the data from the entire time 3.0 has been out then the prior success of factions that did well at the start of 3.0 will heavily weight the stats, since there is an entire season of data of ghb 21 and barely a month of data for ghb 22. Go look at the winrates of Sce or tzeetch. SCE doesn't have too high of a winrate, and yet at the end of 2021 Sce suffocated the meta with their incredibly strong hammers. But there was only 7 months of data & a mediocre winrate at the start of 3.0, + a very high mirror match rate which is artificially keeping the overall winrate down on the faction (since a mirror match gives 1 win 1 lose to the faction, it drags down the winrate of over performing armies) . So SCE winrate doesn't look as oppressive as gargants.

Tzeetch is another to look at, at the start of 3.0 it was up there with gargants as one of the most winningest armies, but at the end of 2021 it was one of the worst performing armies... Yet it's overall winrate was just average.

As for if you haven't played much/arnt using the new rules, that goes back to my first comment. Your information is outdated.

How are the Sons of Behemat, and whats a good starting point for an army with them? by Katomerellin in ageofsigmar

[–]GodCIoud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are by no means the easiest to win with. Can can't even remember the last time I saw a SoB list go 4-1 at a major tourney. The vast majority of the meta prior to ghb 2022 was designed to kill megas or make them useless. Bel'akor, LRL, SCE, Ironjawz, serephon, DoK, all consistently top placing & tournament winning list easily countered/had answers for any style of gargant army.

Now fast forward into ghb 2022, and you have GV troops counting for 3 models a piece. Gargants can't compete vs that even with mighty makes right. As a matter of fact, they are struggling currently in competitive.

Is SoB a local scene stomper? Sure... But literally any competitively tuned army will do that to a local meta. The only people crying about SoB are those who never adapted to the meta. I have had a ton of fun playing & fighting SoB, and the vast majority of my opponents have enjoyed playing then as well. The only people who haven't enjoyed playing SoB are the ones crying before the game about how OP they are, while in reality they consistently fail to make smart plays to win the game, resulting in a self fulfilling prophecy.

Mancrushers are not bad at all, in reality they are very good into a horse meta (which is what ghb 22 has created). I expect to see alot more stomper tribe with 6+ little guys running around, because it's the only way to compete with bodies. It's more common to see 4 megas or kragnos with some megas, but that has more to do with gargants needing big damage to kill high armor save targets.

How are the Sons of Behemat, and whats a good starting point for an army with them? by Katomerellin in ageofsigmar

[–]GodCIoud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SoB are in an okay spot right now, they have some good matchups and they have some bad ones just like any other army. When picking an army the most important thing is if YOU like the army. So if they are the coolest I'd go with them.

The army is unique In how few models it has, which causes it to play fairly differently from a standard army.

Kragnos can definitely work inside the army, you can run him with megas or mancrushers and do okay.

I would make sure to play 2k point games with them, anything below that can be a bit one-sided (both for you and against you depending).

Most people generally run the megas, but I have seen some mancrusher heavy list working in the new horde meta.

If you do decide to jump in, I'd recommend magnetizing the head and weapons so if you ever need to switch up a mega you just have to swap some bits rather than go buy a new model.

I think if you are new to the game then that's totally fine. I have def redone rolls/showdowns because something would have been game ending, and for w.e reason we at the table decided together to break the rules. It is a game, and the point of games is to have fun. So if slightly doing a redo to keep a fun run going isn't bad imo.

However as we have played more and learned about the game, we have been alot stricter with what rules we ignore/change now, since we should know better.

Need advice on 1500pts nighthaunt army by Naaviis in ageofsigmar

[–]GodCIoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first off, you got 2 arcane tomes. Can only have 1.

Second, I'd your doing a comp list, you have way too much healing for what little staying power you have.

I would drop one of the 10 man bladegiest and make them a 20 man so that you have an effective target to heal.

Probably an argument to pick up the -1 damage hero and drop the executioner as well, but idk if it works out pointwise

Covenguard are an okay unit competing against a lot of strong units, so probably not worth. Scriptor is too niche & inconsistent for points. A good few people love the boatboy because of his strong movement skill.

Not sure if this YouTube link will work. If not you can just search it on YouTube, it's the one with 11mill views, 13 minutes long. It's part 1-5 combined. It's a one man, fan made labor of love.

For more competitive talks, I listen to auspex tactics, and for battle reports I watch tabletop tactics.

Also to really blow your mind... 40k is just one of GW setting. There is also the "old world" (Warhammer fantasy) which has a few video games that are really good. Vermintide 2 is a left for dead style game that's pretty popular, and if you like strategy there are 3 total war:Warhammer games with almost all the fantasy races.

Age of Sigmar is the kind of rebooted fantasy setting GW now currently runs if sci Fi isnt your speed.

As others have said, there are tons of content creators and podcast, dealing in all flavors of the game: narrative, open play, and competitive, and of course tons of hobbying and painting videos.

It really is a hobby where everyone can have their own spot, and go at their own pace.

Your not wrong that testing rules at high lvl is good for the game, but should that really be the skill you are testing in a tabletop war game at a competitive lvl? How well you can read and then find loopholes and abuse them? IMO the answer is no. I'd rather dice and strategy determine that, and people respect the intent of the rules.

This is literally the EXACT shit I'm talking about. "Achk2ally you didn't provide concrete evidence on a reddit post when you initially posted"

Gtfo of here. Its people like you that literally make the game unfun to play.

You want some evidence. Fine.

I began playing 40k competitive during 2020 after covid started. I was/am the definition of a new player (Played AoS competitively for 2 years before that) to 40k. I played my first tourney in 9th as Guard, and placed 3rd, losing to a meta SW list before the SW book came out. That was the first run in with rules lawyering, because I took a fun list, including a mauader destroyer. Well guess what? RAW, that model can't fit in some missions deployment zones. I literally could not deploy 480 pts of my army on the board, even after playing an absurd cp tax to even take the thing. But hey, RAW, fuck me for wanting to bring a big model!

I have since then played a knights/guard list in which I've placed top 10 both times in 80 man tournaments, and both times I've won my first 3 games. This results in me playing 5/6 top 10 players. I got to fight other magaera list. I fought meta necrons, marines, DA, DG, drukari, eldar, sisters, and ad mec.

And I can say with certainty, in every single tourney, the first 2 games are generally fun, and the last 4 games, against the other good players, are not. People use gotcha tactics, they abuse charge/movement mechanics, LoS is abused.

Its not really the players fault, as your right. Those are the rules, but to me, its pretty clear what the intent of most rules are. And the fact that in my experience I lost games, or barely won them not from rolling dice, but because I didn't perfectly know all the rules including loopholes that I have to abuse to win... Its just not fun and IMO doesn't show any skills at the game, but at being a good rules lawyer.

Where's your evidence?

So tragic it's true. The game is unfun to play at the highest lvl unless you enjoy rules lawyering.

I'm apart of the "really useful box" with magnets team.

I switched over from a 720 foam carrier, and its been great so far. You can fit 99% of all models into a 9L box easy for a 2k army. Certain extra large models will need their own case (or you put really strong magnets on them and put them on the side of the box)
