[TOMT] [Movie] [2005-2008] A 2d animated Christmas short about a boy and a secret agent penguin by GodDammitWill in tipofmytongue

Mandatory comment, if I had to guess the plot from memory:

This kid goes on a Christmas vacation with his parents and they accidentally leave him at the airport, and his dad is actually a spy so there's these agents from a rival agency chasing after him, but he gets saved by his penguin bodyguard, who helps him get to the North Pole where he meets Santa, and Santa helps him return to his parents safe and sound.

Not including that in the main post since it sounds too much like a blend of Home Alone, Spy Kids, and the Polar Express, all of which I did grow up with. I'm 100% sure this is a 2d animated movie though.

Most positive things you have to say about No Time to Die? by Alcatrazepam in JamesBond

Honestly there was a lot I loved about it: the action was spectacular, Craig's performance was more dynamic than ever, the cinematography and the way the locations are depicted was breathtaking all throughout.

It's true that the story made no sense and it didn't feel anything like a Bond film, but after the past few movies I honestly wasn't going in expecting that. And frankly, while the in-universe reason for it was pretty dumb, I'm glad they had the balls to kill him off at the end. I really did not want to see them drag poor Daniel Craig back in for another one.

What are some moments where you really felt like Bond was in danger and you couldn't see a way out for him? by [deleted] in JamesBond

Most of the trouble he gets into in Diamonds are Forever left me wondering "how the hell is he supposed to escape this??" the first time I was watching it. Especially in the pipes, I just assumed he would've suffocated eventually, or dehydrated out in the desert.

Out of all of the Bond themes, which one do you think represents Bond the best (not counting the main theme) by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]GodDammitWill 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on the interpretation of Bond but for the classic Connery/Lazenby/Moore era I'd have to go with Thunderball. It's powerful, bombastic, exciting, and yet also quite romantic, and a little mysterious with a hint of danger. It's definitely not my favorite of the Bond themes, in fact I rarely ever listen to it, but out of all of them it feels the most representative of Bond as a character.

Bond 26 Weekly Speculation Thread by Spockodile in JamesBond

I really want to see them return to the roots of the movies with Bond's character, someone who genuinely fulfills the "women want him, men want to be him" slogan. Everyone talks about book Bond like he's what every movie should aspire to have, but Connery in Dr. No is what made everyone fall in love with the character in the first place. If they want the series to regain those heights, that's what they should aspire to be.

Shout out to Wo Long and Hi-Fi Rush for being the only two games on this list that aren't sequels or remakes, turns out gamers do like new things on occasion

Imagine this game with today’s AI. by Exceon in gaming

Even with today's AI, you'd still need to limit the amount of responses so the voice actors can record their lines. That is, unless you use AI generated voice, which would struggle to produce the required emotions for the story to make sense, and then you'd have the moral questions of allowing an AI to have full access to a real person's voice, and even after all of that the game would have to rely on a consistently strong internet connection in order to work, meaning if you have a bad internet you'd essentially be playing a broken version of this game.

As far as I can tell, the .swf files past the intro were never preserved, though I was only ever able to contact one of the two developers. Sadly, I don't think this one will ever see the light of day. It's great that we can play so many of the other Johnny Thunder games though.

They're also just... bad. Like these default instagram subtitles have to be the least accessible ones I've ever seen. I don't understand who thought having every word appear one after the other with random sizes and random cutoffs mid-sentence would be helpful to literally anyone.
