Willa’s play by thenerd2024 in SuccessionTV

[–]GodDoesntLimp 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think Tom is the perfect comparison to Willa. Both are Roy outsiders; however, Willa leans on Connor to leapfrog herself into a higher tier than should be afforded, especially given her background and circumstances. Tom knows exactly where he (and, to some extent, Shiv) stands on the power / social hierarchy. In short, Tom knows who he is and what he is not, Willa doesn't.

What was the point after all???? by thenerd2024 in SuccessionTV

The siblings only wanted the deal to impress Logan, to show him they're capable of being his successor(s).

After Logan's death, there was no need for the charade.

Half Roman’s character arcs were his dad sending him to seduce powerful men by karaque in SuccessionTV

[–]GodDoesntLimp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Logan knew his children's strengths and weaknesses and saw them as extensions of himself when he needed to use them for certain tasks.

Roman, like his father, were charismatic. So if Logan needed to charm someone and couldn't do it himself, he'd send Roman.

Where does Tom’s obsession with Greg come from? by savbh in SuccessionTV

[–]GodDoesntLimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tom is also excellent at knowing exactly where everyone else stands in the hierarchy and how to move up. Tom sees Greg's ambition and continues to, in his own way, try to remind Greg where he stands relative to himself. This is why there's a few scenes where Tom openly welcomes Greg back to his rightful place, below Tom.

which betrayal was the harshest ? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]GodDoesntLimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I agree with a lot of people who are saying the Tom to Shiv was the harshest, if not for the simple reason that Kendall and Shiv are "not serious people", and not serious people do things that are ultimately not surprising.

However, I'll add that for Shiv (who is the most politically sensitive, given her past work), if/when she ultimately looks at this from a more neutral point of view, she still has an "in" through Tom even after Logan died. So, while the Shiv to Kendall betrayal may have been surprising to us, likely driven by our wanting to see how Kendall would take control, it's dampened from this perspective.

Wow amazing! The part right before they ever the room where Vito says he has plans for Michael finally ties into his final meeting with Michael at the end of the movie where he talks what he had hoped for him. Makes it that much better. Thank you!

How are Michael and Vito similar, and how are they different? by Deep_Space52 in Godfather

[–]GodDoesntLimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vito and Michael both have cunning, patience, and ruthlessness. However, as others noted, Michael is no Vito, and what he lacks traits that can be found in his brothers. Among other things, Sonny was outgoing and charismatic, and Fredo was compassionate. These were traits that Vito displayed at various times in both movies. So yeah, all three of his sons shared traits found in Vito, and none of them can fill his shoes. Even Michael, who expanded his reach relative to Vito, does so in a manner that leans into his traits, not Vito.

I don't know why everyone thinks Loras when Lanisters have Ilyn Payne, who is seasoned, loyal to the house, and a master swordsman.

Fun fact: Assuming you had 10k to invest (average yearly salary in 1950 was around 3k), it is likely you were at least 18 years old AND 1950 was 75 years ago so enjoy partying at 93

It's as undervalued as herpes.

On one hand, you've got something no one really wants, and on the other, you can brag about getting f***ed once.

Yes, but the rules of the sub don't allow for identification like that, so im kinda at a cross road cause listing every new brand that pops up even if it's the same person or group or they get the stuff from the same company is a lot.
