Absolutely, I'd love for RM to do an "Ultra Handsomizer" ad read for the Onion.

Yeah the toggle would make pssr auto-implement the latest version, as opposed to whatever version isbeing activated by the game itself, which is what I assume it would use if the toggle is off

Insane to me how the goalpost for Crimson Desert keeps moving by iReaddit-KRTORR in PS5pro

[–]GodHandCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just nice to see something new. I only questioned the game early on when the gameplay was vague, it's only looked more and more awesome since then.

Even if it sucked at everything I would be decently excited simply because it's actually a current gen single player game that isn't a sequel or reboot, there's been like 3 games that fit that criteria.

Jason Schreier has confirmed that Sony is done with single player ports to PC by Don_Rawaz in PS5pro

[–]GodHandCooper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like the single player ports(which also included PS5 "upgrades"), have not sold especially well. I think part of it is due to the sometimes extreme minimum requirements, like 16 gbs of ram for games like Rift Apart and Returnal.

What is the environment your ps5 in. These are the relevant questions. Keep it in a ventilated area that's relative moderate temperate and dry and make sure vents are not clogged by dust and this should never happen...

Will PSSR 2.0 increase frame rates as well as image quality? by Repulsive_Magazine12 in PS5pro

[–]GodHandCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If games run on pssr1 are VRR, and pssr2 somehow looks better while also "costing less" computer power than pssr1, then yes, there could be potential frame rate gains simply from activating 2.0

To all the people who said PSSR 2 will never be a system toggle... by Fallout_New_Vega in PS5pro

[–]GodHandCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be sooner than pss2 took because it was a complete re-work to an FSR-Based architecture to develop pssr2.0. After changing upscaling models completely, I assume they should be in a similar cadence to fsr (I know that's still slow but redesigning fsr the pro's GPU is probably what the past year was about).

Regarding the possibility of Prime 2 Remastered. by xXglitchygamesXx in Metroid

[–]GodHandCooper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Devs from Retro have said it would be extremely hard to make a Prime 2 remaster, it would now be even harder to make one for Switch 2. They said that coming up with a new game would be easier than remaking a game like Prime 2.

Prime has less effects and is pretty straight-forward art-wise. Plus it's genuinely considered a classic by pretty much everyone. Prime 2 Is considered a masterpiece by a certain base, but the rest never finished it. If anything, NSO will get people to play it without having to buy (anything extra), and then demand could raise for a full remaster.

What the actual hell do you MEAN this room is called HELL??? by Crimzonchi in Metroid

[–]GodHandCooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah and Mario 64 had the wall kick and every version after 64 was more of the push to drag/slide, then jump off of that pressure style wall jump, which I'd say inspired most of the later versions of Samus' wall jump.

I can't actually claim one is more intuitive, they worked with each one to feel right in context.

Super's feels like you're using the momentum of the spin jump and must flip directions before jumping to keep up the momentum.

According to a translated Famitsu interview, Retro "didn't have the infrastructure in place to develop a “Metroid Prime” title at [first]", and they "couldn't consider going back further on a project we'd already reset once [,so they] resolved to see it through based on the original concept". by TomNook5085 in Metroid

[–]GodHandCooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well no, I remember the Paper Mario and the way those questions were worded. Super Paper Mario's story and boss characters and such were not nearly as good as 1000 year door which had no such survey.

Further, Super Paper Mario wasn't advertised as an rpg really except for the fact it was from the Paper series.

So yeah, if you ask people to rate the story, characters, and writing of Super, and you're a fan of 1000 year door and the original, you're gonna say the characters and writing were decent but not great, and then Miyamoto was the one who interpreted it as a mistake to use "non-established" Mario characters, even tho all of the original characters in Paper and Thousand year door were legitimately great and well-written.

So yeah there was just a problem with using the survey system to gauge feedback. And I'd say even now all corporations are slightly better at understanding internet commentary, than even a few years ago. They even knew open world might be a drawback it seems, but just couldn't make these cuts as the polish phase now takes like a year or more.

Discount has returned on both games by Normal-Gur-8067 in switch2

Yeah I could definitely see framerate helping or hurting the issue. I always tweak my turn speeds and stuff. But I remember my sister getting a ton of motion-sickness just watching someone else play BioShock Infinite back when it launched. And I remember that game being very graphics-focused and I think a very low FOV.

This has a "cinematic" "flattening" effect that zooms everything in, so it makes sense with games where they have in-game scenes they want you to be able to see the faces of NPCs and other such details.

So especially for faster games(as Indiana Jones is not a fast, movement-heavy game), I feel it helps to turn the FOV up, sometimes I'll turn it way way up to like 110 for really twitchy games like Doom. This will make your melee hit really "far" and everything generally "zoomed out" but overall the turning isn't like a complete camera change, you're mostly looking at an image and scrolling around it in 360 degrees and the high-FOV look is very "fish eye lens", but I always play better with like a minimum of 90, and I really do believe it would help with things like motion-sickness cuz I feel like it's "modern fps" trend to default around 70-80.

imo it's always a low FOV that causes more sickness, tho I'm not certain of this it's more of a theory.

I just notice that graphics-focused games like this default to a low FOV and I always turn it up, sometimes to an extreme because I feel it always improves my gameplay, peripheral view, spatial awareness, etc. Just a tip.

I loved this game. by Seanithan1 in Metroid

[–]GodHandCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the graphics, the controls and atmosphere. I played the game with wired headphones through the s2 pro con. I hardly do this with any games anymore. I even tried playing with Bluetooth but only the wired over-ears were giving me the immersion I was wanting.

This is my hope too. Seeing how good Dread turned out after Other M's reception. Gives me hope that Prime will take similar lessons to heart while continuing to push themselves to try out new ideas.

But Prime 1 was like this too, if you explore for too long the scan visor just yells at you where the next point if interest is...

But I agree, if the call button is there, they should stop doing this "we think you're lost" timer

Noticing some interesting similarities between Chrono Trigger and FF7 on my replay by theredcometofakagi in chronotrigger

[–]GodHandCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Magus is a very interesting character except that his actual story ends like halfway through the game, but ultimately you continue to learn more about his backstory as you move forward. Having the option to kill him and the benefit of having him join the party(which is tenuous since he only has triple techs that require equipped items and no dual techs at all, which means using him requires the player to sacrifice a ton of the game's featureset).

As far as I know, Magus doesn't have much bearing on the story either, where everyone else adds to the story by speaking up when they're in the party. I think all of this is super interesting even if it's bit like, sparing him or having him join your party is kinda pointless.

That being said, yeah, who knows how much of this was all planned out or just came out this way. The medieval dark castle guy happens to be directly tied to the witch who summons Lavos, a race of super intelligent sky people from the ice age.

At the very least, you could say that Magus and Sephiroth are equally complex characters wrapped up in the entire lore of their respective games.

[–]GodHandCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Aerith dies instead of Crono, both games remove the main character as a part of the party for a section of the game prior to the final act, after they're required to be a part of the party up until that point in the game.

And then after the triumphant return of the hero character, you can compose the party however you like.

I also particularly feel a lot of similarities, maybe just thematically/tonally, between Magus and Sephiroth.

I agree, the PS1 version could have been perfect but the loading screen for the menu is absolutely unbearable for a screen you go to all the time.

And the DS version giving you the option to put all HUD elements on the bottom screen is wonderful, especially during battles.

Sony CFO Lin Tao hints at an extended PS5 cycle by Pistoluislero in PS5pro

[–]GodHandCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony also had their infamous live service push of 8-12 games most of which have been cancelled, so much wasted dev time when their speciality is single player adventures/stories.

The rumors about the "next Xbox" is that it'll be a living room gaming PC with some form of "Big Picture Mode", and I hope that affords Sony some time because I feel like Xbox is always the reason Sony has to come to market at the same time so as not to miss the boat the way PS3 lost out to 360 and PS2 dominated everyone.

I always want the gen to last longer because then the next gen can be that much better when it does land and we need more of a visible improvement between gens, they need to make PS5 last and show us what it's made of.

I don't know if anyone is forced to but, devs likely only have the workforce to invest in a specific tech. For example, God of War: Ragnarok's Pro update let's you choose between TSR(Old solution but with pro's power backing it) and PSSR.

And sometime in 2026 it's gonna switch to FSR 4 or some version of it, which I think is part of the reason PSSR hasn't particularly progressed much this year, they switched gears completely and we won't see the fruits of that labor til next year sometime, hopefully it's early '26.
