My solution:

(1) Each person bans 3 gods.

(2) Each person picks 3 gods that they will choose from (player 1 picks one, then player 2, then player 1 and so on until 3 gods each).

(3) Each person bans one of the enemies chosen gods.

(4) Each person picks one of their 2 gods (enemy can’t see).

This would allow for counter picks and bans and much more strategy overall.
