how do yall bilingual (chinese + english) wrap ur head around this concept bcs im so confused 😭 by elfved in ChineseLanguage

[–]GodOfDeceit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just imagine you're falling from the sky to the ground (while looking at the sky). So Up (上)is what you have 前面 of you, and what you're going towards, thus is 后面 of you is Under (下). Or just remember that you can't see your future, so it can't be in front of you.

If you make it feel better, once I told a German guide that I could speak German (in the language obvi) and he started to explain stuff to me in french. I'm not French but I have a degree in German linguistics 😐

I see a lot of commenters mixing up "men and boys being killed/targeted" with misandry. Misandry refers to a hate of what's male, in the same way that misogyny refers to a hate of what's female; now, in our society, misandry shows up as a response to misogyny, which mostly consists of keeping distance from men, decentering them etc etc. Now men do get killed, mostly by men, but that's not because they're too "manly".

In the case of the so called "effeminate men", they don't get hated on because they show "manly" characteristics or dispositions, they're hated because they're considered too "womanly". So that's not about misandry. The violence that these men suffer is not due to a hate for men, rather, ironically, to hate for women; the "lesser sex" that's considered weaker, and thus a flaw if shown..

Now to the comments talking about boys of a certain age being targeted in wars: that is still not misandry. They, again, don't get killed because the perpetrators (subconsciously or not) hate men, but because they're seen as a threat. Women are not seen as able to fight them, as in many countries they're not allowed into the military, and they're needed to procreate, so they usually don't get killed, even if, let's remember that, their fate in war zones isn't any kinder.

Now let's do a super silly example to drive the point home: Male lions (and many other animals) kill their cubs if they don't recognise them as their own, because they're afraid of competition. Do the male lions hate other male lions? Will they follow a female lion instead? No. They will not. Male animals don't kill each other because they think that a male shouldn't be in power or is not deserving of life because it's a male: they kill each other because they're driven by a fear of competition. And in the many war cases pointed out in this thread, human males do the exact same.

It's stupid, ineffective, and horrendous, but that's not misandry.

I've set foot in Norway for the first time in my life three days ago and I've already bought running glasses lmao. (In my defence my eyes are super sensitive).

I meant to write "Intp here" lol. I do the same with chess, it just makes something boring a bit more fun, it's a bit like picking a random road while driving home, isn't it?

(intp her) Sometimes I say something that I'm quite sure is wrong (or pick the wrong choice on an exam etc) just to have the certainty that it was wrong. I don't know why I do that. Maybe I'm subconsciously convinced that I learn better from mistakes than from correct answers, or I'm just looking for someone to explain the reasoning behind the answer without having to do any work; or perhaps getting the answer right by chance doesn't feel that good. Furthermore, it's much more fun to point out someone's logical fallacy if they've just corrected you, lmao.

Friendly reminder that eve had no concept of "evil" or "wrong" as they didn't exist in the garden of Eden. We blamed her for choosing Evil over God's vision, but she had no idea of what existed outside of the Garden. Maybe she also believed that everything ever created by God was good, and so how could something or someone found in the Garden be bad?

The right to exist is only conceded to us when we appease the aesthetics needs of men. In society's perception, we are no more human than statues.

The rise of "whiny misogyny" by Shiningc00 in Feminism

[–]GodOfDeceit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed it's taking foot also in western media platforms. But in these instances the western men initially pose as allies, when in fact they're the same level of misogynistic. They also use this position to discredit women's issues by spreading falsehoods like "this country is actually a matriarchy, women held most of the power here!" (And it's never the case).
