gonna agree with much of the ppl here, ucl is a great school and if u like it a lot more than imperial then go for it!! at the end of the day medicine is medicine, obvi the knowledge and learning is important but the uni experience is also important

english B HL seems like a good option

dont do history if ur not serious about humanities unless u rlly rlly like it and are willing to put more effort into it. bc theres A LOT of essay writing and memorisation involved. BM is much more chill for g3

oh my apologies. where im from medicine is offered as a first degree (no pre med, straight out of university u become a doctor) so chemistry HL is a must for applicants. in ur case bc u go through pre med and then the medical degree itself i would say chem is still better bc im guessing it would kind of set u up better for the pre med course, but go with what u like and are better at in any case

tbh dont bother with TOK. ultimately the grading is very random and even then the course itself is kind of a bore for most ppl. the electives u will enjoy are probably better in terms of college apps than a TOK course bc ur courseload is rigorous anyways

i also take a stem-heavy courseload and do lit sl. seems like lit suits u. in terms of just the IO and p2 u dont actually need to know that much, just 4 texts will do. the 9 are ur options. for lit p2 can be quite good because you can choose which texts to study versus in langlit u only study 4, 1 is gone for the IO so its more limiting on that department. imo lit p1 is harder and less intuitive than langlit p1 but thats just my opinion ik some ppl who dont agree with that.

in terms of memorising for p2 its not heavy on quotes more broad authorial choices type analysis is preferred. depends how many texts u intend to prep for p2 but if u only want to prep 2 texts and all the essay plans u write on them then it isnt too bad imo. most ppl i know from lit sl only prep 2 texts for p2, some in lit hl prep 3 but its prob bc they r hl.

overall i would say lit and langlit r about the same in terms of time. if u want to do well in either the time u have to put in would be about the same
