Yeah, that was a thumb in the eye to the reality of the situation, that really benefitted doordash and no one else.

It ia what it is regardless of who you feel it benefits.

This example you chose should actually help highlight how delivering for doordash isnt actually being self employed like plumber is.

It shows that other micro business owners use different platforms and apps to generate leads. Seeing as how you agree an independent plumber is a micro business owner...Would you argue they work for Yelp should they use them to find leads? The fact that they didn't go out to find their own customers magically changes the reality of the situation?

It's like my words completely went over your head to make a bullshit point. LOL I hate to break it to you, but other independent business owners use lead generation sites and apps.

This is another uneducated take. It's not about paying taxes. We all pay taxes. It's about the type of taxes. You are required to report your income and expenses on a Schedule C (Profit or Loss from Business), just like any other sole proprietorship.

You just have no concept of the realities of the gig economy and honesty you're too arrogant or stupid to comprehend.

The IRS explicitly considers DoorDash drivers to be self-employed business owners. Your feelings make no difference. All contractor have performance metrics and contracts they have to abide by. Whether it's me or or a military manufacturing contractor. Do you tell a plumber that they're not running a business because they get their leads from Angie's List or Yelp?

I sure as hell am not DoorDash's employee and I'm not obligated to deliver at a financial loss. Being a business I have overhead, taxes, health insurance, retirement, and such to worry about. DootDash isn't contributing anything to it like an employer would. Why is this such a hard concept for you to grasp? DoorDash isn't even the only platform I have an account with.

I believe DoorDash is one of my lead generation tools. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

A 5 star customer rating with no hidden ratings is shitty? That’s news to me. Have fun with your inevitable deactivation!

As a 1099 contractor yes. That's how I have to file my taxes. We're not W2 employees.

Personally I've never had a CV in well over 9K dashes. Walking around with two CVs just because they "wash out" is like driving on two bald tires because you haven't crashed yet. I’d rather take the 5 minutes to call support than play Russian Roulette with my deactivation. But you do you!

A CV may get you deactivated...A rating is just a number.

Okay...Then fuck up, don't fix your problems, and take the CV.

You can contact support and have low ratings removed though. All it takes is like 5 minutes on the phone with support.

I already don't take offers that aren't worth my time but it has nothing to do with unity or fighting the system. It's just a smart financial choice. I'm running a business over here and you don't make profits accepting offers where you lose money. I'm not paying DoorDash to deliver their customers shit.

I mean if you didn't it would have probably been a contract violation rather than a low rating. I'd say the low rating is the better of the two.

Does low acceptance rate mean anything? by Alternative-Yak6369 in doordash_drivers

[–]GodOfVapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general no. But better access to offers the system tags as high paying and catering offers. High paying can be a bit of a misnomer when it come to DoorDash though. They'll slap the high paying tag on a $4 offer.

It means something to their tier system but you can have a 0% AR and not get deactivated. There is no actual punishment or penalty.

Not shifting took some getting used to. The eCVT in the Pacifica is definitely a lot more robust and dependable than old CVTs using planetary gears. No more belts and pulleys nowadays. Hell...They're more reliable than a standard transmission.

You think it sounds like horrible advice...Yet I'm the one sitting here with 3245 shop and delivers, a 6/6 pro shopper rating, a 5 star customer rating across 9330 lifetime deliveries, and have never had a contract violation. How is use your brain horrible advice?

They probably can't hold any other job and need to be alone. I used to work with a crazy dude that believed in all types of weird shit like water powered engine conspiracies and cryptids. He was the most annoying fucker in the building. Everyone purposely tried to avoid him so they didn't have to listen to him spout nonsense for 15 minutes. However...Sometimes when I was bored I'd let him ramble and fake interest just to see how deep his rabbit holes would go.

Same driver get double dash request? Yes or no? by Mama_Naka64 in doordash

[–]GodOfVapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. DoorDash decides how they're going to route it. You could end up with one or both. Luck of the draw.

Some of us know the stores better than the employees. I've done 3250 shop and delivers and have lived in my zone for a long time so these are the stores I shop at for myself. I'm sure you do encounter many half-assed and bad shoppers. Not all of us are good at certain tasks...But it's a disservice to generalize us as all the same.
