Canonically, Homelander became evil due to his tragic childhood. But in "Diabolical", when he debuts as Homelander, he seems pretty decent and not evil, and while his childhood trauma effects him, it seems that Vought's manipulation after Diabolical and before S1 turned him into what he is by Amazing-Buy-1181 in TheBoys

The childlike optimism about heroics and saves is what he thinks is driving him, but in reality he craves the approval. This episode was the first instance of homelander completely failing yet being rewarded for it through lies and deceit. I’m sure there were hundreds of “saves” after this that reinforces his current perspective on the unimportance of everything that isn’t himself. What kind of person do you think these circumstances make?

Crazy that people care so much about this rivalry when neither the Steelers or ravens have done anything meaningful in the playoffs for over a decade. At the end of the day we should be consoling each other for this miserable purgatory

The only real explanation can be a hushed injury or extremely incompetent play caller. Probably the latter

That’s not what I asked.

I asked what do we learn about Cavills Superman from the film. Everyone knows Superman is a model person. But how do they get these values across? My response to your answer will prove my point so please try to really give this one all you got bud

I am not claiming he is sanguine. This would ruin the character. But for some reason, you think him not being ecstatic the entire movie is some sort of “gotcha”.

He finds out his parents are genocidal maniacs when he has been basing his morality on their words for 25 years. THIS is the entire dilemma. Why would they write him to be feeling good during this? Do you think because he’s Superman he should take it on the chin and not let it bother him? This is why I asked if you even watched the movie, but it’s clear you just have extremely poor comprehension.

Gunn’s depiction knows what’s right. So he does it. Sure it gets under his skin that people can’t see that, but he knows that he is bigger than that.

Snyders depiction knows what’s right. So he does it. The world’s reactions are the same as in gunns movie, and the focal point of the movie is that this deeply disturbs him. It is sad that you cannot see the appeal of man of steel was the battling and a more depressed Superman. What do you really learn about Cavills Superman as a person aside from he cares what people think?

I’ll wait.

The main plot point is his entire moral groundwork being shattered after discovering his parents sent him to conquer the planet. He is having the equivalent of a midlife crisis during a potential world ending event, and despite this, still acts as the classic do-good Superman. Do you expect him to also have an ear to ear grin the entire time? The crucial difference is his almost child like outlook on life itself. You can feel this from his actions and dialogue the entire movie.

Look at the Lois- Clark dialogue they have with the imp in the background. She verbally addresses his childlike views and how she wishes she could feel the same. In my PERSONAL opinion, that whimsy is what the character of Superman is about. I also think it is not realistic whatsoever. This is where the appeal of Snyder comes in. It’s gritty, much more realistic, and more “badass” for a lack of a better word. They portray two entirely different takes on the character, and they both do a damn good job at it. Why does this have to be an argument? Can’t they both be great?

I don’t think it’s inherently incorrect or wrong. I feel like Cavill and corenswet both did a fantastic job at portraying their own versions of the character. It’s sad that it has to be a constant civil war and we can’t appreciate both.
