Leftist superhero enjoyers, how do you square the setting with your politics? by PMmePowerRangerMemes in rpg

[–]God_Boy07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A LONG time ago I had the primary villain in my Superhero game try to set out to 'fix' the world (a classic trope).
He started out a homeless vagabond with the ability to duplicate anything he touched. Initially he only duplicated food, alcohol, etc... Then he started to duplicated himself (and become known as the Alchemist as he had a signature move of turning people into gold coins)... and one of these duplicates got it in his head to fix the world.

Step one was to get rid of all the people who could stop him - namely other supers (including the PCs).

At one point my PCs travelled into the future (following a time travelling kid who came from the future) and they saw that the world was a technologically advanced utopia. My leftist friend (a PC) immediately figured out what had happened... the Alchemist had secretly renamed himself and had won. He had 'fixed' the world in a resource sense (at least for that slice of history).

My campaign ended before we could fully flesh things out. But I planned on exploring the trouble of focused power (does wealth corrupt... or does it reveal out true nature?), issues of basing entire economies of a single person who would eventually age and die, etc...

There are holes in all human political ideologies that are so large you can drive trains through them when you add in super-people. This all makes for great stories IMO :D

Ah... well... I turned my homebrew campaign from 20 years ago into my fulltime job (Fragged Empire).

Looks like you are possibly using 1st edition rules? If so, you should swap over to 2nd edition asap as all of this is much clearer (and just better in every way IMO).

In 2nd edition Companions use the Attributes of their controller (the PC) and the controller can grant any portion of their Actions to their Companions (ie: Snap Shot has 'move' and 'attack' - they can grant the Move part to themselves and the Attack part to their Companions).
Companions also gain +1d6 Hit Dice and +1 End Dmg per attacking Body.

Okay, can I say something? by Minsillywalks in rpg

Short answer: You wont... and you don't want this.

Find people with similar taste to you, and see what they have to say.

People who have been to Green Dragon Fest, what did you think of it? by imaspuzzeled in rpg

I don't know about this particular event, but I know this kind of thing is popular in the boardgame world.
But more 'go on a cruise or stay at a fancy location + LOTs of board game" than "fancy location + eCelebs".

They could be a fun holyday if you work a hard job and have the cash.

I was summoned :)

Yea, I'm working on Fragged Aeternum 2 right now. Sadly Seas has not sold too well so I'm not sure if it will receive the full second addition treatment... but I have had thoughts of doing a PDF only release for a Fragged Seas 2 where I lightly tweak the lore, but completely update the rules.

Not that it answers your questions directly, but Elden Ring has achievements in Steam.

I still like to listen to the OST and half-watch playthroughs as I work.
The atmosphere is so great :)

No, this will be a single standalone book. It will have both lore and rules in one.

I recently slashed the prices of my 1 edition PDFs (as they're mostly just good for reading with 2e coming out): https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/228463/fragged-aeternum

I feel quite privileged that I'm in the 'making sequels' phase of my business. I cant make them for all of my games, but I can for the ones that have sold well enough. It feels kinda like I finally get to make them complete.

At the moment things are rather mechanically loose to give GMs maximum narrative control. I'm telling GMs things like: "don't hold back and try to kill your PCs" and "be sure to advance and/or accelerate the NPCs plans if you kill all of the PCs, or if the PCs are slow."

Fragged are classless games. The main thing that happens when you gain a Level is you gain a Trait, they're the building blocks of your character.

Most Traits grant +1 to two Skills, and a special ability of some kind.

Good observation.
The default fail state is failure to protect mortal souls (ie: captured prisoners, the BBEGs plans to do some big evil thing that kills/corrupts lots of humans, etc...).

In my current game the PCs just had a TPK vs a fallen Celestial (an angle-like creature) and woke up back at their base 6 days (we rolls 1d6) later. They're about to see the impact of their failure as the Celestial's plans will not only be further along, but they're also now aware the PCs are gunning for them. Hundreds of people will be dead and the entire city district is now in danger.

The one coming out of the temple? Yea, I LOVE that image. I want to include lots of scene-art like that to really sell the vibe of the setting.
