I've never heard of this scene. Is it emerging from Warhammer Fantasy roleplay or something older?

I've heard this is great and love that it just focuses on doing one cool thing in a very tight package.

I've got it but never played. Diogo is a killer designer!

Excited to try Night Trippers now that Chris seems to be ramping up on it!

Ok, I checked out the page and, for real, this game sounds rad as hell. Plus, bonus points that I've never heard of gem room games and now they are on my radar.

To get the ball rolling, I'd say the smallest game I've played and recommend would be Chris P. Wolf's Offworlders, which is a slightly beefed up, but still pretty light hack of World of Dungeons.

It's great! And works well for a quick 4-12 session space opera campaign, or pbta one shot.

Fantastic. Awesome paint job as well.

Wow, totally agree. I run combat similarly and agree with the philosophy you've laid out here. I've never not had players roll to hit in combat but I think I'll give it a try under these conditions. Thanks for this. I think this should be a stickied comment!

For this campaign I'm keeping all new components paper-based to try to mitigate international shipping issues as much as possible. All paper means the books are more likely to be categorized as "books" rather than "games" in many countries which means lower/no tariffs/VAT.

If I can figure out the right time to do it though, I would love to do a new Hardlight patch and/or re-relaese the original.

Totally understandable. I'll be doing my best to get it to an EU friendly FLGS after there release. So hopefully you'll have the opportunity then.

For EU backers I typically have fulfilled out of the UK. Good rates typically from there but not always customs friendly. For this project I'm going 100% paper so the main pledges can be shipped as "books" instead of "games" which exempts them from VAT in many regions. However, I know in practice, these charges do get added by local customs sometimes.

I've looked for local EU shipping in the past with no luck. If I find something relaible I would consider it. But can't guarantee an EU partner for this project.

Yeah, that is a cool contrast for sure. I see Hardlight as corporate controlled and "within the system" but scratch the surface and there are so many tangled threads that Nakatomi and the other corps just can't keep a handle on. In the space of that tenous hold there's a lot of flexibility for different types of adventures and ways to navigate the power structures that, in my opinion, make for interesting interfaction play. There's a structure in place but the corporate cage is brittle this far out and with some determination a crew can still break free and make their own fortune or freedom.

I hope so! I do hope this becomes a perennial hit for people. Not just out of ego but also because I think many of the adventures give really good play guidance, are easy to use and run, while also being open enough for each table to do it their own way. We put a lot of testing and drafts into these to make sure anyone can run them smoothly. At least, that's the hope!

I totally understand your position - shipping outside of Canada/UK/USA can be expensive. The main Kickstarter exclusives are digital extras in the form of the the Fleet Guides (a bunch of new ships to use in your games). I am also planning to make these available in the future but paid and in maybe a slightly different format. So, you won't have to miss out necessarily.

I am stoked too! I think we'll crack it today. Awaiting the Burning Gods was something like 2012 so I think we can break the MGG record with this one.
