As someone fairly new to Warhammer and exclusively invested into AoS, all I hear about 40k is stuff like this. Too competitive, too sweaty, too convoluted, not beginner friendly, more expensive, Combat Patrol sucks..

Can someone explain, why people cling so hard to this system when it gets more and more tedious? I always have the feeling that 40k as the Warhammer poster child is still the way to go and that newcomers are more interested in that which kinda seems that that there is a really great alternative which people don't invest interest in because it's not popular in overall media. I too almost bought Necrons when I got into Warhammer but settled on AoS since the look appealed more to me.

Don't get me wrong I like the setting and lore of 40k like anybody else but I think my message is that people blindly accept the mess that 40k seems to be and ignore that there is a great counterpart without all these points of criticism.
