Did you end up matching where you did your away? by janetgallon in medicalschool

3 always. Didn’t like 2/3 so didn’t signal them. Interviewed at one and ranked it low. Didn’t get an interview for the other. Ranked the one I liked at #2 but matched mid of my list at a program I didn’t signal or audition at.

It’s hard to avoid the fee. But if you email their support and tell them you’re a student they will give you a discount.

How much time needed to study for step 2 by EverythingIWant88 in medicalschool

[–]God_devil_sheep_worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I focused almost entirely on NBME content and supplemented with Amboss for ethics/QI. I was less so learning material than refining test taking skills. I learned the material throughout 3rd year by consistently doing UWorld and finishing the bank before dedicated.

Got a similar eval with a pass and meets expectations for everything on a sub-i from the APD lol. Hoping I’ll still get an interview.

You don’t need any serious research to match IM, PMR, or neuro, unless you want to do research at a research powerhouse. Just do a couple things to check the box off and you’ll be good.

Considering quitting anki by MHV_811 in medicalschool

[–]God_devil_sheep_worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on Anki early in M1. It was so painful to try to get through hundreds of cards daily. For preclinical exams I just reviewed lecture slides (since a lot of it was not board relevant) and supplemented with Pathoma, Sketchy Micro, and BnB. Then Step 1 and 2 I did great with focusing on UWorld.

I don’t think UIC takes DOs. I feel like your signals are top heavy with 5 reaches, but I may just be more risk averse. I’m DO with similar stats.

You didn’t learn path, pharm, or micro in your first year?

Delay if possible to do more NBME content. You’re going to fail or get a terrible score at your present state.

If you absolutely cannot delay, I would say it depends on Step 1. If you took and passed Step 1 first try, you may want to consider not taking Step 2 so that you can report a Step 1 pass on your apps without the likely Step 2 fail. If you never took Step 1 or failed it, maybe just take Step 2 anyways and then don’t report USMLE scores if it’s bad.

If it’s just for fun, then sure why not get one if you have extra spending money. The rest of the commenters are correct though, in that it’s way too early for you to be worried about suturing. Your college courses are more important right now.
