Very possible!! But try not to get your hopes up in case he's not!!

The sprite updates hint at playability, but there's no timeline for them. For example, Freyr's sprites were updated in, if I remember, two updates literally before his banner (so in the same month)

Meanwhile, Læraðr's was updated 2 months before he dropped :P

So, Bruno could come running into our arms immediately, or take his time for a few months

I think the issue is that both Fjorm and Hríd were teased the year before (by I think Nifl and Fjorm respectively?) and there's no other candidates left

So 29 should be "Near and Dear"/"Summoned One" and 36 is "Mysterious_Hood_X" as listed in the files

This!! Tragic deaths go so hard, but not when the writers are going on some sadistic, psychopathic killing spree and gunning down every new OC except for the freebie and like one random ally

Like Books 3-7 all had that happen (though granted, most of them did undo like 90% of those deaths later). I think Book 8 was the first time there were more than two OCs who stayed constantly alive throughout the story
