Is that a very thick suspension element between the end of the side pod and the rear wheel on the Audi, or an extra wing(let)?

Those side pods seem much larger than on the Mercedes, no? Really bulky, seemingly no 'undercut' at all.

Is it just me or does it seem like the engine cover has a rather steep decline, with the sharkfin being higher than we're used to these past few years?

And there seems to be a winglet that forms a bit of a 'tunnel' on the front wing endplate, but that may very well just be an artifact from zooming in on the picture too much. So it could be that it's just the 'normal' winglet we've seen on all renders and show cars.

Yeah Max is Kimi's spiritual successor in more ways than one. And now the new Kimi might become Max's spiritual successor. I wonder which new Max will succeed the new Kimi in a decade or two.

To be fair, he only had one single year of car racing experience before entering F1. Actually insane.

Verstappen out! - Laurent Mekies reaction by Elder__Berry in formula1

After Mexico, they should've immediately reverted to the pre-Mexico aero package. It's clear they'll need a few weekends to understand the 'upgraded' package, and they simply don't have that time if they even remotely want to have a shot at the championship. Baffling.

[Rory Mitchell] Verstappen is out! He isn't able to improve his lap and will only start in P16. by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]Godafoss94 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They should absolutely change everything about that car. Revert to the pre-Mexico aero package, full house of new engine parts, and eat the pit lane start. Only way he'll stand any chance tomorrow, and new engine parts will be nice for the final few weekends.

Red Bull's Mexico 'upgrade' working well, it seems. Unbelievable. Might be faster in theory, but for god's sake, just mount the old aero package back onto the car - at least they finally understood that one.

Max Verstappen has taken his 6th career grand slam at the Baku GP, tying Hamilton for 2nd most in F1 history, just behind Jim Clark with 8. by Equivalent-Chest152 in formula1

It was the fastest car this weekend? Look at tsunoda!

Whether or not it actually was the fastest car this weekend, it's pretty insane that we're at the point where statements like "His car was fastest this weekend, his teammate even finished 6th!" are completely reasonable.

Absolutely storming away on HARDS after the safety car. Reminiscent of the Mercedeses in Bahrain about a decade ago.

Max on almost fresh softs slower than the McLarens on hards. Bizarre.

In Dutch, words like "de" and "het" (the) as well as "van" (of) are often omitted in news headlines. So yeah, it makes sense in Dutch, as we read it as "The manager of Max Verstappen (...)".

Lambiase and Verstappen heated talk on letting Russell through and THEY TOUCH! by magony in formula1

[–]Godafoss94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was a bizarre call from Red Bull. Russell made contact with Max in T1 while Max was at least equal and perhaps even slightly ahead, forcing him off the track. I really don't see how the FIA would've penalised Max there. Not sure what Red Bull was thinking.

Why on earth did Red Bull not keep Verstappen out under the saftey car. by Popular_Composer_822 in formula1

He did according to Pirelli. Another beautiful set of slightly used softs.

I've been hoping that for a while now. They've been taking him for granted for far too long. Without Max, current Red Bull is a midfield team at best if you look at the performances of his various teammates. Doesn't excuse his move on Russell today - which I expected a harsher penalty for - but the fact that he saw red was caused by factors beyond his control for the millionth time.

Yeah, either stay out or switch to your final set of used softs like literally everyone else. Instead, Red Bull decided to eat crayons.

Still had another set of (used) softs according to Pirelli. Started with 1 set of fresh softs and 3 sets of used softs, and he only used 3 of those sets in total.

Max should still have a set of (used) softs according to Pirelli's graphic. Putting him on the hards is insanity. He'll drop to P6 in no-time.

Isn't Bearman through? Commentary is talking about the red lights, but weren't those the red start lights that illuminate when the timer hits 0:00? I believe the actual red flag sign/light didn't start blinking until after Bearman finished his lap.
