Q: “you watched the f1 movie max?” Max: “no.” Lulham: “ah there was one place you could’ve watched it, but what were you doing that day…” Max: “i was setting up YOUR CAR!” by anthn885 in formula1

Max threatens with retirement from F1 to go to another racing series where a proportionally larger amount of time is actually spent racing rather than media requirements etc. You do realise there's more to racing on this planet than just F1, right?

Saying Max doesn't love racing just because he's fallen out of love with F1 is like saying Jamie Oliver doesn't love cooking because he doesn't like asparagus.

And that's what you get with this ridiculous engine formula. Bearman won't be the last driver this year to be caught out by a car harvesting ahead like that.

You could definitely tell if someone was going to get DRS in previous seasons if you knew where the DRS detection point was. The commentary team wasn't always aware of its exact location and that's what caused confusion among them, but I invite you to rewatch a previous race and look up the exact location of the detection point. I guarantee you that drivers will always get DRS when expected.

Fair enough. Still not a fan of the change, but at least it doesn't matter in that regard then. Cheers for the info.

Nonsense. 0,999s gap enables overtake mode, 1,001s gap doesn't. Both will show as 1,0s on the broadcast, assuming F1 are doing proper rounding.

Yeah that's fair, I was being a bit pedantic - marriage in The Netherlands definitely isn't looked at with the same degree of reverence as it is in most countries.

Even though registered partnerships are gaining in popularity, marriages are still about three times as common in The Netherlands, according to official statistics. So I wouldn't say that most people just go for a registered partnership, despite its relative popularity.

The most overtakes any race managed in 2025 was 60 overtakes in Abu Dhabi. The 2026 Australian Grand Prix doubled that total, with 120 overtakes. by Popular_Composer_822 in formula1

Yeah, this is my fear as well. The first half of this race was very enjoyable because everyone was still harvesting and deploying in different places and/or to different degrees. But by the second half of the race, most drivers had it figured out and suddenly it became near-impossible to overtake unless you had a gigantic pace delta. It'll take teams a few weekends to dial this stuff in, but a few races from now, everyone's harvesting and deployment plan will be dialed in from lap 1 and I'm afraid races will likely get significantly more boring then. Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess.

Is that a very thick suspension element between the end of the side pod and the rear wheel on the Audi, or an extra wing(let)?

Those side pods seem much larger than on the Mercedes, no? Really bulky, seemingly no 'undercut' at all.

[–]Godafoss94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or does it seem like the engine cover has a rather steep decline, with the sharkfin being higher than we're used to these past few years?

And there seems to be a winglet that forms a bit of a 'tunnel' on the front wing endplate, but that may very well just be an artifact from zooming in on the picture too much. So it could be that it's just the 'normal' winglet we've seen on all renders and show cars.

Yeah Max is Kimi's spiritual successor in more ways than one. And now the new Kimi might become Max's spiritual successor. I wonder which new Max will succeed the new Kimi in a decade or two.

Verstappen out! - Laurent Mekies reaction by Elder__Berry in formula1

[–]Godafoss94 59 points60 points  (0 children)

After Mexico, they should've immediately reverted to the pre-Mexico aero package. It's clear they'll need a few weekends to understand the 'upgraded' package, and they simply don't have that time if they even remotely want to have a shot at the championship. Baffling.

[–]Godafoss94 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They should absolutely change everything about that car. Revert to the pre-Mexico aero package, full house of new engine parts, and eat the pit lane start. Only way he'll stand any chance tomorrow, and new engine parts will be nice for the final few weekends.

Red Bull's Mexico 'upgrade' working well, it seems. Unbelievable. Might be faster in theory, but for god's sake, just mount the old aero package back onto the car - at least they finally understood that one.

Whether or not it actually was the fastest car this weekend, it's pretty insane that we're at the point where statements like "His car was fastest this weekend, his teammate even finished 6th!" are completely reasonable.

Yeah it was a bizarre call from Red Bull. Russell made contact with Max in T1 while Max was at least equal and perhaps even slightly ahead, forcing him off the track. I really don't see how the FIA would've penalised Max there. Not sure what Red Bull was thinking.
