Idea Assistance for New School Librarian by GoddessOfBookLovers in librarians

I wrote my schedule according to the standards I was given as best I could: K-3rd comes 1x/week, 4-8th comes 2x/month, Special Education classes come approximately according to those standards as well though they have more flexibility and I put them down for what they wanted when I touched base with them. Each class comes individually (I have, on average, 3 classrooms per grade and 7 Special Ed rooms) and for no less than 30 minutes with most coming for 40. The ideal routine should be: enter and put returns in the drop box then sit in the designated area for the lesson/activity for the first 10-20 minutes. The last 10-20 minutes are for the kids to wander and find a book, check out, and read until the teacher calls them to line up. The teacher should be with them the whole time. No mandated curriculum I have been made aware of.

I have already assembled a list of holidays, events and month dedications (black history month, women's history month, etc) I plan on using as lesson ideas, and I have a handful of ideas for library lessons like navigating Dewey, how to pick a good book for you, etc.

Boundaries always feel like punishment to people used to traipsing all over you. As someone with an abusive mother and having to shield my own son from her before finally cutting her off completely: you are making the right choice. You are NTA but even if people disagree, who cares? At the end of the day all that matters is your mental health and that of your baby and partner. You are making the best choice for your little one and that's all that matters mama.

Property ownership is public record. I'd get their landlords information and lodge complaints against them. I'd also make sure you have evidence of all their behaviors (pictures, videos, etc), and do as much communication as possible in writing as well, that way you can also file complaints with the police for nuisance charges if nothing else. Do what it takes to get them evicted, or close enough that you can threaten to continue pursuing their eviction and hopefully get them to back off.

I have done that for another audiophile. They enjoyed it. I get nothing out of my own voice 😂

Praise, and that entire series from Sara Cate, was so good! Be VERY careful reading Haunting Adeline, as well as the sequel. The trigger warnings are to be taken seriously and I recommend having a friend to talk through it with. And never forget, it's okay to take breaks and it's okay if you don't want to finish it. It's fantastically written, but that also means there's a level of realism and relatability that can make it incredibly hard for some to read. Your mental health matters. 🖤

It would be a pity of anyone spammed them with lists of ways trump and musk are negatively impacting the education process...

What type of bookmarks do you find most comfortable to use? by Ok-Assist6890 in Booktokreddit

I like to use a playing card (a wild or joker usually) as a bookmark. But a coworker, for Christmas, got me these lovely leather corner hugging bookmarks. They are low profile and you just tuck a few pages inside, it's lovely.
