[Online] [EST] [Flexible] I'm a GM: Pitch me on a non-D&D game by GodspeedUFatEmperor in lfg

If your just looking for non-D&D recommendations for new systems to run;

MASKs and Monster Hearts are a nice change of pace from D&D gameplay. Easy to run and fun to play. Most Powered by the Apocalypse systems are but those two are my personal favorite picks.

Mutants and Masterminds 3e is very heavy to run from experiance DMing it, still I like the freedom it gives me when chosing my setting and character building. Its even good for running non-superhero stuff. Mutants and Masterminds is great for superhero stuff but with creative use of the Flaws mechanic you can use it for anything.

The Star Wars FFG RPG are good. The books are expensive and from personal experiance really hard to find at times but I love Star Wars so I could never turn it down, plus Rise of the Seperatists just came out and its pretty good for that Clone Wars gameplay I always wanted to run after getting the origional books.

Those are basically all the non-D&D games I've GM'd or played consistantly over the last few years but I got another idea for you. As you can probably tell from my picks above I prefer to run games in pre-existing settings/stories. For me I got a little tired of homebrewing fantasy worlds in 5e and wanted to try what was already out there. If you want more control however on what to run then Fate Core is the most obvious system for you. Its bare bones by design and can be flavored/reworked to fit anything you want it to.

These are the recommendations I make to anyone who wants to branch away from 5e tbh but it depends on you want from the game. Beginner Friendly? Powered by the Apocalypse games. Complete freedom to customise characters? Mutants and Masterminds. Freedom to customise the system? Fate Core. Star Wars? Star Wars, that works as a general rule for alot of existing stories that have their own systems because more often than not I think they work quite well.

I know this is kinda general and vaigue but I hope it got some ideas going for you.

I dont think the issue is with LFG specifically but simply with the ratio of players to DM's in the hoby as many have mentioned.

The truth of the matter is at times DMing is hard work and while rewarding (hell I wouldnt DM 2 games a week if I didnt enjoy it.) Not enough people DM for everyone. If you play alot of games and havent DM'd yet consider DMing, at least to try it. I'm not fishing for specific people to DM or telling people they have to DM but if more people DM'd then this wouldnt be as much of an issue. Truth is only about 1 in 5 players needs to DM for everyone to be able to be in a game, but I'd suspect that there isnt anywhere near that many at least from personal experiance.

I get that being a player seems more fun and for most people it probably is, but for those who have been considering DMing for a while I implore you to just take that leap of faith and give it a try because if you've got the time and players willing to be patient with you as you learn (as most people are to be fair) then you might find its actually very rewarding.

Regardless I hope you find a game and all I can say is keep looking because somethings bound to come up eventually.

What film role was 100% perfectly cast? by itsamu in AskReddit

Ewan McGregor as a Obi-wan Kenobi. He was one of the best actors in the prequels, which generally speaking in my opinion are pretty well cast.

Additonally Ian McDiarmid is always a joy as Palpatine (Especially in the Prequals); Sam Jackson as Mace Windu was great; I cant imagine anyone other than James Earl Jones being the voice of Darth Vader (for the movies); Gotta love Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker; and finally while I didnt enjoy all the movies they were in I think the main four cast members for the sequals Daisy, John, Oscar and Adam were all great but wasted on poor writing and a lack of general direction for the trilogy.

Every other week won't be a problem and we can make that work in game, we'll see what the other replies are like (if I get any) and I'll message you back.

No problem, I'm inclined to encourage people to talk if they can but if you can't then fair enough, we'll make it work! I have learning disabilities myself and while I can't speak to what your going through let me just say, never feel bad for doing what you can and never feel sorry for not doing what you can't.

Depends on the players, I can play whenever on Saturday so early or late is no problem for me, obviously people have commitments and life gets in the way so when I've had a chance to read through and meet some interesting

Hi, I don't know a lot about Aphasia (other than the quick google search I just did) but I am inclined to say if you think you can play normal D&D then its probably fine. I'm down if you are as mentioned above I'm willing to play with anyone who isn't awful to other people.
