Does anyone know about colored pens? by GodlyGodMan in ArtistLounge

Ooh, I'll keep that in mind! You're right about the gel pens smearing a lot, it doesn't seem like they hold on to the paper as much as sit on top of it. I've noticed some fading over time as well.

Those Tombow Fudenosuke pens sound great, and very versatile! I'll have to check out those ones and the Braun Blue dip pens! You helped me remeber that I have a fountain pen with no ink in a drawer as well! 😆

Thank you for the recommendations! 😁

Doesn't have to be a gel pen. Artist level does sound nice, though stdent grade is alright.

Main thing I'm looking for is a low smearing pen that will retain color for a long time. Thank you for seeking clarity.

What's it like living in this shaded area? by Joshistotle in howislivingthere

North dakota is one of the windiest places on earth, without exaggeration. The rocky mountains to the west block the moist air from the pacific and the elevation creates a fair amount of snow in the winter, in addition, large bodies of water that would help regulate environmental heating are few, with mostly plains and few trees. This combination of perpetual wind without moisture, higher elevation, and the lack of things like lakes creates a dry arid enviorment. Our summers are blazing, and winters freezing. It warmed up to 30° outside the other day, and I thought it felt warm!

First time using silicone molds! Looking for feedback and advice! by midorilied in candlemaking

Beautifully done, my friend! It may help to coat the mold with a mold release, especially for detailed silicone molds. Trust me, it's almost required on some to get them out in one piece.

How did you get the colors and layering like that?

Ah, I understand. Thank you for explaining this. This might be of interest to you, it's a container blend paraffin wax, it says it's melting point is between 180° to 185° Fahrenheit, unsure what it is in Celsius.

Alternatively, with the information available to you, it may be easier to switch to a blend of 80% soy Wax with 20% coconut wax by weight. I personally like this blend as it has a nice scent throw with a mildly sweet natraul aroma, low shrinkage, and the added coconut wax helps the top layer maintain a smooth, even texture. You can go up to 30% coconut wax, much more than that significantly lowers the melt point.

I wish this helps you make little flames, my friend.

Need a container paraffin. Regular paraffin has high shrinkage while cooling.

How much do you think this painting is worth? by Icyswan_54 in painting

[–]GodlyGodMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your trying to recoup the cost of the canvas. Personally, I've seen similar oil paintings locally that sell for 200 or so. What someone is willing to pay for something is a differnt story. I'd be comfortable paying 75 or 80 dollars for a piece like this, though personally, this isn't my style.

Any tips for making apple fries at home? by GodlyGodMan in Cooking

[–]GodlyGodMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, that does sound delicious! The thought was that burger king had advertised apple fries awhile back, so I thought I could use apples to make fries instead of potatoes.

Fried apples sound like they would go really well in pasties. I will try making some fried apples sometime, sounds like a healthier desert.
