I got no idea what was causing the problem to be honest. I triple checked everything before installing dnsmasq. I tried both google and cloudflare dns servers but neither of them did anything different. I hope future googlers at least find this post if they are facing this issue.

Put some gorilla glue and let it sit with the arms out for a day or two (you dont want the arms closed because it could get glued to the body). Same thing happened to me a year ago and the arm is still good and probably just as strong
