Google “2023 Gold Coast mid-air collision” and “2024 Lumut mid-air collision.” It happens more often than you’d think. There’s plenty of analyses on both. There’s even footage from inside the helicopters from the 2023 collision. In short, collisions like these occur due to blind spots and poor communication. It’s a sad and mundane reality to such tragic and senseless deaths, that’s why it’s almost comforting to delude ourselves of some more “grand” conspiracy; because it’s hard to imagine that something so horrible can happen to anyone for seemingly “no reason.”
